Sally's Biography

Hmmm ... where to start ... I always hated those questions in high school and college when they asked you to tell a little about yourself.
My final year of college hoops photo - Missouri '00

I grew-up in Apple Valley, Minnesota. My parents are Diann and Vinton (Big Vin) and I have one sister, named Sarah, who is almost 6 years older than me. The family moved to Australia for two years when I was three, and then back to MN.

My parents decided to put me into sports around the fifth grade and for some reason, my unathletic looking body took naturally to a couple of them. I was a figure skater (along with my sister), and played volleyball, basketball, and softball.

I received a scholarship to play Big 10 basketball at The University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign). I loved the school, even though it was in the middle of no where. I was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and had a good time going to the 22 on-campus bars. I loved my basketball team, but hated my coach (whom I affectionately call Satan). We won the Big 10 and made it to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen round twice. At one point I think we were ranked 7th in the nation. But after three long years of trying to play for the coach, I transferred to The University of Missouri (Columbia).

After sitting out my first year, which went by pretty quick, I proceeded to tear the shit out of my knee one week before our first game. That was a big bummer! I went through rehab (which wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be) and did color-commentary for our radio games. Three months to the day of my surgery I was cleared to play, even though it was for only one short minute.

In May of 2000, I finally graduated and did what most college kids do after graduating ... moved back home, lived off my family and basically just hung out for 3 months. I finally got a job at SportsLine and that is where I met Jason.

I was a Producer at CBS.SportsLine.com. Besides doing odd's and end's for the site, I mostly worked with our partners. I was responsible for putting up the content and maintaining Michael Jordan's website and Shaquille O'Neal's website. I also worked with NFL.com, mainly doing the Under The Helmet mini-site and posting the Spanish articles. I also did a weekly ranking of the top 16 women's basketball teams and for the WNBA. That's the quick and easy version.

I now work at IBS in Minneapolis, which is another internet company, but this one does television stations websites. I was first hired to be a Sales Production Coordinator and then was National Sales Producer. I quickly left the NSP job to be a Producer. I am not a Sr. Producer at IB. It's a job that keeps me pretty busy all day.

Jason and I have been together since September 2000. He says he saw me at my interview and knew right then I was the girl for him (you can sigh now). One night after having a little too much to drink, we ended up on the beach, actually I take that back, we ended up in the ocean. He turned to me and told me he liked me and we've been together ever since. We got married on September 4th, 2004.

He also lost his cell phone that night on the beach, so if anyone goes down to Ft. Lauderdale Beach and finds a Motorola flip-phone, please let us know :-)

My mother own's her own company with her work-partner-in-crime Tim Murphy, called UpNorth Consulting, that is, as my mother says, "an information technology resources services firm". Don't ask me what that means, I have no idea :-) My father is a chiropractor, but mainly does radiology. My sister works for the Target Corporation at its headquarters in Minneapolis, which by the way is my favorite store.

Jason and I adopted a dog named Chewy on May 11th, 2005. We have had our ups and down with him, if you want to read all about that click here. (Editors note: Chewy was a bad dog, so he went to live with another family)

Lets see ... anything else interesting ... I have been to Iceland, that was pretty cool.
