Week 45
Day 215 – Friday, July 23, 2010
Play time in the park with Natalya ... watched Alexa play lacrosse at her last day of Sports Camp ... off the the in-laws for some pool time with the girls ... waiting for the wife to show up for a good start to our weekend ... nice finish to my week.
Not to mention all the hot job prospects I have going. If only the car had not been towed, this would have been a pretty close to perfect week.
Day 214 – Thursday, July 22, 2010
It's raining today, so Lexi's last day of sports camp was postponed until tomorrow.
I have two separate in-person interviews this afternoon. In all, I have 5 "hot leads" for jobs that I am working. Although I've felt good about some stuff before, I am confident one of these will be be "the one".
Day 213 – Wednesday, July 21, 2010
Dropped Alexa off at Sports Camp, then back home with Natalya for a bit before I was off for an interview.
I have a phone interview this afternoon and am now meeting with a couple of friends for coffee. I also have a "final interview" tomorrow afternoon for something ... so ... things are cooking.
I miss my girlies. They are at the pool now with Gammy and Rara. I'll join them later this afternoon. =)
Day 212 – Tuesday, July 20, 2010
Busy day ... Day two of sports camp for Alexa. We played in the park after picking her up, again.
I had a phone interview this morning and have a follow-up in-person interview tomorrow for a new opportunity. So, that makes three things I have cooking right now. No offers though yet, of course.
We'll play in the water some this afternoon, probably setting up the slip-n-slide.
Alexa and I have soccer tonight. I can't wait to teach these kids how to make it to a World Cup level of play. =)
Day 211 – Monday, July 19, 2010
Alexa has "Sports Camp" this week in the mornings (M-Th). They get to do all sorts of fun stuff.. Soccer, Lacrosse, Baseball, Basketball and more.
Natalya is actually sleeping in some today ... almost 9:30 and not a peep.
Lucky for me too, as I got a call from an agency I have been in contact with for months about an opportunity they may have for me. Interview with the other company went well on Friday too, so things are looking up (again) ... fingers crossed.
I'll be making Natalya some special eggs (for me too) when she wakes. I'm getting hungry! =)
Talya up at 10:45. That's the latest she has slept in a while. She did wake a couple of times earlier, but fell right back asleep. I think all the activity with the guests in town this weekend pooped her out a bit. I was worried she is maybe sick, but she does not feel warm at all and he is eating breakfast pretty well so far.
Natalya down for a later nap today and Alexa is playing with kids in the court behind our house. It's sprinkling out a little this afternoon, which is all right by me.
Alexa did come home crying once, so far. She apparently hurt her elbow. She said she tripped on Ryan's bike. So, I got he an ice pack and after about 20 seconds she was ready to back out and play. I was proud of myself for not offering a treat to sooth her. =)
Week 44
Day 208 – Friday, July 16, 2010
Busy day ...
Breakfast, then off to get groceries, then home to prep for my interview today in MPLS.
Gammy will be watching the girls.
Back home to prep the house for guests staying with us this weekend (Tara Nordquist and her kids Sam and Claire). Of course, I have done 90% of the cleaning. So goes it when you are the stay-at-home person. Although, I would have probably done 85% of it anyways. haha =) ... cry =(
Day 207 – Thursday, July 15, 2010
Late update today ... I kind of forgot about it. =)
I've come to the conclusion that one of the boys in the neighborhood has but one goal in his young life ... to hoard free food from the Singer's. The boy's name will not be told (not Peyton). He's nice though, but I am always having to tell him no to his requests for snacks, drinks, etc... haha
Last day of Kamp Kermit for Alexa was today. They had a water day, with squirt guns and all sorts of fun play.
Natalya and I had a quiet breakfast at Sunset park (I picked up a Big Breakfast from McD's for us to share).
We're now home playing in the sprinkler in the back yard with a few other kids.
Big interview for me tomorrow at 12:30 (my first non-phone interview in 3 weeks!), so I am prepping in my spare time today. I'll prep more tonight after the girls go to bed and again tomorrow am.
Dinner time ... "Daddy, this is the worst stuff. Your food is groos and mommies is the yummiest."
Oh, the joy!
Day 206 – Wednesday, July 14, 2010
We have some severe storms in the area this morning, which is odd for a morning. It's very muggy out and already in the 80's at 9:30 am. Maybe that is why Natalya woke up in a terror at 8:20 today.
We'll be laying low inside until the storms pass.
I am loving my Neflix Trial ... I can pick all sorts of "Watch Instantly" titles for the kids (or Sally and me) that I can stream through my laptop, Wii or PS3. Great for a rainy day! I'm still not sure if we'll keep it past the trial, even thought it would only be 10 bucks a month to have the 1 DVD out at a time and unlimited use of the Watch Instantly feature. 10 bucks is 10 bucks.
Day 205 – Tuesday, July 13, 2010
Nothing like a random phone interview (with a recruiter) with a baby squawking in the background!
last week of Kamp Kermit today. Gammy and Rara are picking Lexi up after camp and taking her swimming. Talya and I will show up later this afternoon.
Alexa has soccer tonight (with me as coach). I put together a list of some drills for little kids. I'll try to keep it fun!
Day 204 – Monday, July 12, 2010
Is it fair for me to hate Monday's too? It seems like it's been a while since I have had a full 5 days of daddy daycare in a week.
Went for a walk down to the neighborhood park. It has been soggy the last few times I have been there, so I was hoping for dry this time, but my hopes did not come true. It was pretty busy today though, so the girls got to play with some other kids. i really have to keep a close eye on Talya there though, especially with the wet ground all over. That push back up the hill in the two kid stroller is quite the workout!
Been a busy day on the job front ... I have a phone interview set up for tomorrow, I also talked with a contact about networking for a position I am really interested in that I applied for Friday, a direct recruited just sent me an interesting opportunity and I am also networking on another potential opportunity through a contact of a contact. It feels like I've been through this drill a thousand times!
Week 43
Day 203 – Friday, July 9, 2010
A full day of zoo camp for Alexa today.
Natalya and I will go play in the park after dropping Lexi off at the zoo. Then we'll go play with her older cousins and probably get some pool time in.
Well, I decided to take Natalya to the zoo after dropping Alexa off. I figured I'm here already, might as well go. Natalya enjoyed it, of course.
We then got some pool time in with her cousins before nap time.
Day 202 – Thursday, July 8, 2010
A beautiful start to the morning ...
The humidity is low today, doors are open, birds are chirping, Alexa is being an angel (so far).
Walk and bike ride at the park are in order.
We got pool time in with the cousins from South dakota (Zach, Max and Cassie). Alexa loves playing with her cousins (of the 2nd kind)!
Day 201 – Wednesday, July 7, 2010
Happy 18 months to Natalya! ...
To celebrate, we had a trip to the pediatrician. No shots today though, so it was a pleasant visit for her. Everything looks good, although we do need to fatten her up a bit. She is at 70% on weight, but 97% on height. I will probably start giving her two bottles of pediasure daily, for a bit at least.
Alexa is at Jane's today (her old day care). I took Natalya to a park after the doctor and now we're home doing some "na-na", which is how she says "dancing". Which means we are watching the DVD "I can dance" (http://www.amazon.com/Kidsongs-Can-Dance-Marilyn-Rising/dp/B0000687DT).
Tolly-Lolli-Pop loves it!
Day 200 – Tuesday, July 6, 2010
Back to "normal". Holiday weekend is over, no Kamp Kermit this week (Alexa does have zoo camp on Friday, though), no interviews on tap. I suppose we'll get out to a park this morning.
It ended up being a humid and warm day, so we did a lot of playing ouside for a bit and then coming inside to cool off.
I bought four more bags of sand for the sand box, so the girls had fun playing with the new sand.
Week 42
Day 199 – Friday, July 2, 2010
Alexa is at Mommy daycare today (she went to work with Sally). I hope she's giving those IBers hell, seriously.
Natalya and I went to Panera for breakfast and coffee (using my Father's Day gift card!). Then we played at kelley Park some, atlhough she got kind of scared by the buckets of water dropping water. I seem to recall Alexe being scared of those too. After our seemingly weekly trip to Sam's for supplies, we're back home for relaxing (and dancing, of course) and lunch before nap time.
I just had an impromptu phone interview for a place I applied to yesterday
. I think it went pretty well ... I should hear back by end of next week for an in-person interview. Although it's first stage, it's still a nice little boost for me heading into the holiday weekend!
Day 198 – Thursday, July 1, 2010
I'm off to meet a friend/business associate for breakfast.
Diann is here to watch Natalya (after she wakes), while Alexa is at Kamp Kermit.
After Kamp, it was back home for Slip-n-slide action for Alexa at the neighbors.
After Natalya was up, we played mostly inside. I was trying to keep them out of the heat some.
Day 197 – Wednesday, June 30, 2010
Both girls up early today.
Did some webcam with Gradnma Sheryl, then it was off to play in the "wood parK" on Ipava. No walk today, just play time.
back home and Alexa played with Olivia some before lunch.
After lunch, Gammy came to pick Lexi up for a trip to Kelley Park (the one with water stuff).
Natalya is up from her nap now and we are watching the dancing video (she loves it!) and I made her popcorn (she has been hammering me for days throwing those popcorn bags at me). I asked if she wanted to go outside, but she just handed me the DVD player remote (which is her way of saying "play that dancing video!").
She's such a cutie!
Day 196 – Tuesday, June 29, 2010
Busy (beautiful ... low humidity, upper 60's to low 70's) morning ...
Alexa off to kamp kermit.
Talya and me met Myra for a twice around walk at Sunset Park.
Picked Alexa up and then went to Culver's for lunch.
back home and Alexa is doing slip-n-slide at Max and Olivia's.
Fun times! ... although, Alexa did sustain some sort of bite and/or scratch on her shoulder. She came home crying and I saw a bite mark on her shoulder and a couple of small scratches. I can't tell if she was bit by a wasp, bee or maybe just a mosquito. I was bitten twice by wasps on Sunday while mowing (I killed the nest and took it down from the fence side of our house). Anyways, after a little ice and a band-aid she was ready to go back out and play. I'll be keeping an eye on it though, of course.
Day 195 – Monday, June 28, 2010
VW into the shop this morning. If I need to get out with the girls, we'll be taking the Mustang. Lexi will be so unhappy with that (not!).
Walekd down to the park with the girls this morning. It was pretty flooded from all the rains though, so our stay was short. No big deal though, as Payton is home for the Summer now. Alexa and him are playing outside now.
Week 41
Day 194 – Friday, June 25, 2010
I made the mistake of making Lexi Egg Beaters that have chives in them.
Alexa says, "Daddy, what's this gren stuff? Daddy, you're the worst cooker ever!"
We're off to the pool later this morning.
I've had no interviews in over two weeks now and I don't currently have one on the docket. sigh
Well, before the pool it's bouncer time in the back yard with Olivia, max and Eva. Of course, Icee Pops are in order.
Day 193 – Thursday, June 24, 2010
After Kamp Kermit this morning, we came home for the rest of the day. We needed a break from the pool (although Alexa didn't neccesarily feel that way).
Alexa and I played some games while Natalya napped. She is getting so good at the matching game.
Late this afternoon, I decided it was clean up time (the place was a mess). So I said "clean up time" to the girls ... and they were in! Natalya even helped some, although she was also taking out some games after we just put some away. haha
Day 192 – Wednesday, June 23, 2010
Alexa stayed at Grandma and Grandpa Albers' last night ... so I got a reprieve this morning!
After job search stuff early, I watched the US' World Cup soccer match against Algeria. In an epic finish, they scored in bonus time to advance to the next round. They went from being out of the tournament to winning their group on one shot. Awesome stuff! Natalya was up for the last 15 minutes or so of the match too. I think I scared her a little when I was so happy after the goal. She was happy too after I picked her up. haha
I took Alexa and Abrianna (not sure on spelling ... she is Myra's niece from South Dakota) to the zoo this afternoon. I can't remember the last time I was at the zoo without a stroller. We hit every corner of that place. The girls were great! ... Although Alexa threw a fit when we were leaving. She did not want to go, of course. She wanted to "see more animals". Alexa fell asleep on the way home. =)
Day 191 – Tuesday, June 22, 2010
Kamp Kermit, then off to Gammy's for a day of pool time. Lotsa fun!
Day 190 – Monday, June 21, 2010
Coming off a nice weekend of time with the family, watching Wimbledon & World Cup Soccer while drinking coffee out of a neat mug (painted by my daugter Alexa) that I got for father's day. Not a bad way to get things going.
if the rain holds off, we'll hit the pool today (as we did yesterday).
Week 40
Day 189 – Friday, June 18, 2010
I am hated today, apparently. Alexa has told me she has hated me three times now. Must be becasue I would not let her have suckers for breakfast.
We went to the Zoo this morning. It was a perfect time to go. No school kids camps and the weather was really nice. Unfortunately, we missed the butterfly exhibit by one day! It opens tomorrow.
Day 188 – Thursday, June 17, 2010
Kamp Kermit for Lexi this morning. Bananas and french toast for Natalya this morning.
Warm and sticky day in store for us. We'll hit a park after we pick Alexa up later this morning.
No interviews on tap for this week, but I have had some submissions on jobs and communication with company recruiters on a couple of potential opportunities.
Something I posted on my LinkedIn profile last night:
You know, the job hunt can be so much pomp and circumstance at times. The right opportunity for me will be the opportune organization that understands the above and beyond that I bring to the table. I will work harder, bring more results, enlighten more people, strategize better, lead with more energy, operate most efficiently, collaborate like they've never seen before, and, when all is said and done, do better than anyone else they might have considered. Simple as that. Now bring it!
Day 187 – Wednesday, June 16, 2010
Vw into the shop this morning. After I am taking a coffee break at Caribou and then getting a workout in. Did I mention Sally and I are on a 13 week diet? Big goals!
Diann will be with the girls in the morning (and Myra I imagine). It should be a nice day today, so we'll be outside a lot I am sure. Might even break out the jumper and/or slip-n-slide.
Slip-n-slide at Nolan and Eva's (behind us) for the whole neighborhood. Alexa has been shy the last couple of days about playing with all the kids. I think "the big kids" that are home for Summer break are a little intimidating maybe. So ... I gave in and let her get Icee Pops for all the kids (9 total, plus one for Natalya!).
Day 186 – Tuesday, June 15, 2010
Finally some sun this morning. Good timing too, as Alexa starts Kamp Kermit today! Tuesday and Thursday mornings for the next several weeks.
Natalya is eating more breakfast today than she has in almost a week. She even let me feed her some yogurt from a spoon. She usually does not let me feed her.
After breakfast, we're off to the park for a walk and stroller ride.
Day 185 – Monday, June 14, 2010
Broken record ... Another rainy day.
We stayed in all day long until a trip to the grocery store in the afternoon.
Week 39
Day 184 – Friday, June 11, 2010
Another rainy day. We had some thunder and lighting overnight. Maybe that is why Alexa crawled into bed with us at 4 this morning.=)
Almost 8:30 and I am the only one awake in the house (besides Sally, who is at work already).
Grandpa Harvey's last day in town. I'll miss my daily dose of grown-up conversation.
We're off the "The Blast" later this morning:
http://www.ci.eagan.mn.us/live/page.asp?menu=2785
Day 183 – Thursday, June 10, 2010
Rainy day, lazy day.
Lots of play inside today. Games on the computer for Alexa. Painting with grandpa. A kid movie or two.
Ribs tonight (we have a couple racks left over from the weekend)!
Day 182 – Wednesday, June 9, 2010
Alexa is off to Jane's today.
How can one not be happy with fresh bagels from Bruegger's?
My dad and I will be taking Natalya to Sunset Park for a walk and playtime in the park. Myra is meeting us too.
I don't think I have mentioned this lately, but Natalya has been eating really well of late. She ate almost all of her eggs (with cheese and corn) this morning. She then had a health bar thingy on our walk and another snack in the car. Pediasure before nap made for a complete morning!
Day 181 – Tuesday, June 8, 2010
Rainy day. Library might be in the cards this morning.
Interview for me this afternoon. Gammy and Rara will be coming by to watch the girls.
How can one not like seared Tuna? =(
F the 100 picture "rule" (F=forget, by the way). Here are some photos from the zoo yesterday (most taken by Alexa).
Day 180 – Monday, June 7, 2010
One more week with Granpda Harvery in town. We're off to the zoo this morning!
We had a perfect time at the zoo! Both girls had a lot of fun and were very well behaved.
back home for lunch and we had a perfect time for Talya's poop! Just before nap time. yay! ... oh the things that make my day better.
Week 38
Day 176 to 179 – Monday to Friday, June 1 to June 4, 2010
Three trips to the doctor in three days for Natalya. All things are pointing to her fighting a virus, which would be a good thing compared the the alternatives. She is getting better (happier and eating more), so we are hoping she is getting past this thing.
Alexa had two days of day camp at the zoo. One day was aabout chciken and the other day was about cows. She had a great time!
We're probably going to the chutes and ladders park today (Friday). Alexa has been talking about it for months now. Every so often she's mention "that park with the long slides, etc...". At least I think this is the park she is talking about.
Scratch that ... that park is hard to keep track of the kids. I'll go there with Sally so she can help. =)
We'll do the wood park instead.
Day 175 – Monday, MaY 31, 2010
Grandpa harvey is in town. Having him here is like having somebody else do daycare for me ... not! haha
It is nice having an adult to converse with though, so it's certainly good for my sanity. =)
Talya has been a bit off the last few days, with lots of whining and a temperature for the first couple of days. We are off to the doctor this morning to see what might be the matter.
Natalya did just eat her best breakfast in days (oatmeal with raising and banana, daddy's special apples and banana slices), so that is good!
Week 37
Day 174 – Friday, May 28, 2010
Ducks are quacking outside like there's no tomorrow. These quacks are coming from somewhere behind our house, so it's probably not the same ducks making there home on our front porch garden. Speaking of which, Sally is likely going to put in some sort of protective fence to keep animals out from getting to the duck eggs. We just have to do it so that the ducks can still get in and out.
As for Daddy Daycare today ...
Lexi is off to work with Sally today. Sally has a short day to start the holiday weekend. Lulu will have so much fun!
I have a phone interview this morning at 9:00 (a first interview, with a company I have had my eye on for some time now). Tolly lollie pop is up chatting in her bed at 8:30. Is it wrong of me to leave her in there another hour?
After she wakes, we'll do some breakfast, go for a walk and then it's off to Gammy's for her for the day. Daddy gets a day of rest from Daycare.
Day 173 – Thursday, May 27, 2010
The ducks are back! You all might recall how that ended last year ... There's A Duck On The Loose - 2009
last day of pre-school for Alexa. Today is "Picnic day" for her and her classmates. What a great day for it too. It's a beautiful Spring day outside.
Well, the five interview place went a different direction ...
"We appreciate you taking the time to come out and meet with us recently. While your qualifications are impressive, this position has drawn more qualified candidates than we could have hoped for and we have selected those whose background and experience most closely resembles the skills needed for this position."
Day 172 – Wednesday, May 26, 2010
The hot and muggy we had for two days is gone. We have some beautiful weather on tap, so we'll be spending lots of time outdoors today and through the week.
I have plans to make blueberry pancakes for the girls this morning, then we're off to a park, perhaps Sunset Park or the one by the water tower, for a walk and to play in the park.
Back from a bike/stroller ride followed by play in the park. Lots of kids were there to play with when we got back from our walk.
It's funny how from one week to the next, the job hunt can change so drastically. Realizing I'm only half way through ump day (yes, I still get that doing Daddy daycare), aside from some resumes I submitted to a couple things on Monday, I have had no progress on the hunt this week. Whereas last week, I had three interviews and was sure I'd have a job offer in hand. Oh well. So goes it on the search.
Day 171 – Tuesday, May 25, 2010
Jeep ride around the 'hood with the girls this morning. Alexa off to school, then I went to Diann and Vin's to help clean the pool for the opener while Natalya napped.
Day 170 – Monday, May 24, 2010
Hot and muggy today. I took the girls around the block in the double stoller this morning around 11. I bet I burned 500 calories.
I'm giving in this afternoon. I am getting icee pops for the four girls over here, including the two outsiders, even though it's against the new neighbor ppolicy of getting snacks for visitors. It's just too darn hot out! Oh, and add another icee pop for Daddy. I'll have pink, thank you very much.
Week 36
Day 169 – Friday, May 21, 2010
Posting this the night before as I have a first interview at 9:30am with a fairly prestigious company in town. I'm excited about the opportunity, as I think it fits by background and what I am looking to do. Lets hope they do too! Of course, I have some other stuff going on the job front too ... so I guess we'll see.
Back home now. It's cooler and misty out today, so we're staying in. I am actually happy to have a day without sun.
Alexa and i built a big "fort" of blankets and stuff in the living room. Very cozy.
Day 168 – Thursday, May 20, 2010
Alexa and I played in the yard a bit early this morning, then she was off to spend the morning with gammy before school.
I took Natalya for a long walk down the path behind the park by Crystal Lake Golf Course. Lots of wetlands, tall grass and open space back there. It was nice. Talya was very content.
After picking up Aldexa from school, I took the girls to a small park we passed on the way home by Byerly's. Alexa saw it as we passed by and said she wanted to go there, so I turned around and we went to play some. Some woman with her kids there kept referring to Talya as boy/he/him ... of course, she was wearing an orange shirt and yellow shorts (Gammy dressed her), and she was a mess from playing all day. I never corrected her ... I thought it was kid of funny. I had a son for 30 minutes. haha ... very happy to have my beautiful Natalya back though.
back home for slip-n-slide with the girls. It's a new one she got for her birthday from Payton. Sally actually broke it out yesterday afternoon for the girls. Alexa loves it!
Day 167 – Wednesday, May 19, 2010
Alexa off to Jane's today (her old daycare). I have an interview this afternoon (number 5 .. and I am told final).
After Talya wakes and we've had breakfast, I am going to take her for a walk around Sunset lake.
Day 166 – Tuesday, May 18, 2010
Posting this next day ...
We had a busy day yesterday. I took the girls for a walk in our new double stroller. We went to the park down the street and I broguht Alexa's new roller blades along. She kind of just walks along in them. She needs to learn how to push off still. I guess it's not quite the same as ice skating, which she is really good at (for a 4 year old).
When we got home, Eva was playing on our swing set, so the girls played with her. Alexa and her then had lunch together on Eva's porch. Alexa then wanted to get her swimsuit on the play in the water, but I told her no because we soon had to get ready for pre-school. Needless to say, Alexandra Kaylei was not too happy with that, so she threw a fit. I then told her she needed to take a time out. I went into the garage with Natalya to get her missing shoe and upon re-entering the house the door nob opened smack dab onto the middle of Alexa's forehead. Instantly she had a big knot and she was crying hysterically and calling out for Mommy. I had a bit of a panic attack, but I managed to get her calmed down and laying on the couch. She was not too keen on me putting the ice pack on her head, but I managed to do three 5-minute sessions before we were off to school. She was fine (mentally) by the time we went to school, and the bump had already become much smaller. Icee-pops and Hershey's Kisses deserve thanks for helping me get through the ordeal.
After school, we had plenty of play in the back yard with various neighborhood kids. I set up the jumper and both Natalya and Alexa had a great afternoon ... with no additional known injuries.
Day 165 – Monday, May 17, 2010
A beautiful week on tap. We basically have "San Diego weather" all week long, minus the long walks on the beach and the sun setting into the Pacific. =)
... I'm sure we are in store for long afternoons of tons of kids playing in the neighborhood and the sun setting over my hot red grill, however. haha
A first interview for me this morning. An interesting opportunity ... more to come if it progresses. I was also contacted via e-mail over the weekend by the recruiting team from a fairly prestigious company here in town about something I had applied for a few weeks back. I basically had to do a first interview via a survey. Pending that, they'll be in contact. Of course, I hope to hear back from one of the three places I had multiple interviews with in the last few weeks as well. Perhaps and offer to come?
Alexa's birthday week is past and now we get to play with all her new toys! We'll get out on the skates some, I am sure. If the wind picks up, we'll take her kite for a fly too (she keeps getting on me about that). I'll have to get her golf clubs exchanged for the bigger size real quick too so that I can get her prepped for the LPGA!
Week 35
Day 164 – Friday, May 14, 2010
Ooops ... end of the day and I forgot to update this today.
Lots of play time outside, as it finally got sunny and warmer.
I bought a double stroller (with a "sit-n'stand" option for Alexa in the back) at a garage sale near our house. It is basically brand new (the woman said she hardly used it), it just needed a good dusting. I got it for only $55 bucks! Both girls love it.
Alexa went to Gammy's this afternoon to make her birthday cake for the family party tomorrow. They are making a princess castle one. Speaking of which ... a weekend of birthday festivities is on tap, not to mention Alexa's last day of ice Skating, followed by the last bit of her second week of soccer practice.
Another week of daycare in the books. More interviews on tap for next week (at least one official one Monday morning). Nothing set in stone on anything I have interviewed with yet ... this process is getting old. Pull the trigger folks!
Day 163 – Thursday, May 13, 2010
The birthday celebration week continues. Today, Alexa gets a birthday party of sorts at school. Sally and I will be going and bringing cupcakes, as well as a book to read. We're going to read "Ladybug Girl".
Rainy out again today. It is supposed to clear up and start getting warmer tomorrow, so we'll get some outdoor playtime in tomorrow and through the weekend.
I have my "big interview" late this afternoon. I've prepped and am ready. 'Nuff said.
Day 162 – Wednesday, May 12, 2010
Happy 4th Birthday Alexandra! Sally and I took her to the doctor this morning. All looks good, although she said her tonsils looked a little big. She took a sample for strep. We'll see.Update: It was nothing. She likmely just has big tonsils like her mommy did (she had them taken out at 21).
We're taking Alexa to MOA tonight with Payton for her birthday. Gammy will be watching Talya. Of course, there are festivities planned all week for her birthday. It's like Hannukah or something. =)
Another cold and wet day on tap, so we'll be staying inside mostly. We're doing webcam with Grandma Sheryl and Grandpa Bob. They sang her Happy Birthday and she opened cards from them and the GG's.
Day 161 – Tuesday, May 11, 2010
Quiet morning, with a cozy fire going as it is rainy and cold outside. Playtime in the toy room, glue painting for Alexa and Natalya making all sorts of noise (and a mess) in the kitchen.
School for Alexa today. Only three weeks left before Summer break.
I found out I have a "final" interview with the place I have had interviews at the past three weeks. That interview will be Thursday, late afternoon.
Day 160 – Monday, May 10, 2010
While I am in cleaning the kitchen, I hear Alexa say "Daddy, Taly's d...ing. Daddy, Taly's d...ing." I pause for a second, I don't hear Natalya. My heart skips a few beats and I lunge to the living room, only to find her drawing on the lighted drawing board. Of course, Alexa said, "Daddy, Taly's drawing."
Alexa slept later than Natalya today (until 9). I can't remember the last time she did that.
Alexa picked at her scab on her forehead yesterday. I'll be watching her like a hawk today. I've already told her if she picks her scab, it will be there forever. I'm not sure she comprehends that though.
I had this bet I made with myself a few weeks back that I would have a job either before or right after I posted my 100th picture on this blog. So far, not counting the animated gifs and slideshows, I am at 100 pictures.
Week 34
Day 159 – Friday, May 7, 2010
Not a good day ...

Rainy day. We went to the library. Mommy will be taking Alexa to get her hair cut, by a professional, today afterwork.
Day 158 – Thursday, May 6, 2010
Alexa has been into a new puzzle we got from Infantino after we returned a recalled baby sling to them. Nice trade up for us, as we never used the sling. We got two other puzzle games too.
Playing in the toy room with the girls this morning. School for Lexi later today. It's supposed to be cooler the next few days, so we'll be spending less time outside I am thinking. Plus, they both have slight colds, with occasional coughs and runny noses. Which reminds me ... there was a recall a couple of days ago for children's and infants Tylenol and Motin. It turns out we have four different bottles of recalled products. It does not look to be too serious at this point, as it is voluntary and precationary. Needless to say, we'll be no longer using those drugs (both girls have had a small amount in the last few days) and we'll be getting refunds. More in the recall here: http://www.fda.gov/Drugs/DrugSafety/PostmarketDrugSafetyInformationforPatientsandProviders/ucm210440.htm
Day 157 – Wednesday, May 5, 2010
Lexi gets to go to Jane's today. She'll have fun!
Day 156 – Tuesday, May 4, 2010
A beautiful morning out. Sun is shining, birds chirping. We are supposed tp get some thunderstomr tonight though, so we'll have to get some outdoor time in while we can.
Alexa is at her kindergarten pre-screening with Mommy this morning. School for her this afternoon and I have a second interview this afternoon while she is at school.
Natalya is loving her banana this morning. She is passing on the peaches for more banana. She also had a few chunks of sharp cheddar and milk. I usually do not use pediasure at breakfast because she eats well at breakfast.
Eva (our neighbor from behind us with the pool) is out on the swings and getting Talya's attention. We'll head out after breakfast. Lexi will want to play too I am sure once she gets home from the screening.
Day 155 – Monday, May 3, 2010
Hello May!
Alexa was up early this morning coughing with a sore throat. I'll be monitoring her, of course. I think we've let her play outside without warm enough clothes a bit too much the last few days. Although not cold, the weather has been a little off for the last few days, with clouds coming in and out and wind being on and off. My throat is even a little sore, although Sally says I always say that. =)
Week 33
Day 154 – Friday, April 30, 2010
Early start for today, although it did not start that way. After I got out of bed, Alexa crawled into bed with mommy and fell asleep. A bit after Sally left for work (8ish), I decided to go take a shower, while Alexa was still sleeping. When I come out, she is not in bed anymore and I see Natalya's door open. Alexa then comes out and says "where's mommy?" (that's typically her first two words of the day, by the way). Natalya is up and crying to be held. So we're up.
Day 153 – Thursday, April 29, 2010
Alexa gets to talk about her "favorite transportation vehicle" at school today. Pink Jeep anyone?
So Lexi is playing over at Eva's with her and Mara this morning. She comes home to get her little pink chair and brings it over there. A few minutes later, Talya and I go over and they are in Eva's garage, each with their own little chairs. Lexi grabs her chair and stands with it still on her butt and she starts running around the garage with it still on her butt (holding it with her hands). I am thinking to myself, "silly kid ... another case of Lulu being Lulu." I am thinking the other girls think Lulu is being a goof. Then the other girls grab their chairs and proceed to do just what Alexa is doing. I'm glad our Lulu is just another silly kid sometimes. =
Day 152 – Wednesday, April 28, 2010
Off to the zoo this morning, sometime after Natalya wakes and has had breakfast. "Farm Babies" ends in April, so we'll get to see them "all grown up", or at least 1 month old or so.
Lulu is mad at me because I won't let her play on the computer (I am going to in a few), so she grabs the butterfly art project she made at school (very cute by the way) and says to me "you don't get to bring this to work!". I guess she doesn't realize I am at work. haha
Sometimes I just love dressing the girls up. It's like having the dolls I never had!
Lexi is loving the cataloup I got at Sam's. She should really love it when it's in season later.
Okay, I am pooped from the zoo. Natalya is too. She is napping. Alexa, however, is out playing the in the backyard now.
I did find the energy to mow though, so I am not a total waste. Ahh ... mowing time has arrived. Good excercise, but I do get sick of it. I figure about 10 years or so from now and Alexa can mow too!
Not exaggerating at all ... Lexi has now made 7 trips inside to get more icee pops. More kids keep showing up. Sigh.
Day 151 – Tuesday, April 27, 2010
Interview later this morning. Grandpa Albers will be watching the girls. School for Alexa today. I may not be back to bring her in, but I will pick her up. I think we'll go to a park after school today.
Diann sent me a link to some recipes for Pediasure (http://pediasure.com/pdf/PediaSure-Recipes.pdf). I think I'll try some of these with Natalya.
Day 150 – Monday, April 26, 2010
I treated the grass ... now I need to keep the girls off of it for the next two days. Looks like it will be lots of parks, errands and maybe the zoo.
We met Myra at Sunset park for a walk (Lexi rode her bike). We then played in the park and finished with lunch at Chili's. The girls were good, although Natalya was really ready for a nap by the time we left for home.
Geese eat Dandelions. Who knew? Maybe I should raise a flock to eat my weeds. I can sick them on my neighbors yard.
Week 32
Day 149 – Friday, April 23, 2010
Impromptu interview over coffee this morning. Might be a nice opportunity!
Sally worked from home this morning, then we went over the Diann and Vintons to prep for the garage sale.
NOTE: We made over $400 ... sold out blue couch set, and sadly, a bunch of baby clothes and toys. Such memories. =/
Day 148 – Thursday, April 22, 2010
French toast with syrup, whipped cream and a cherry for Alexa. I think I got almost two eggs into that one!
Alexa gets to bring "a sign of Spring" to school today. I think we'll cut some some fresh flowers off our tree for her to bring in. They smell so wonderful!
Day 147 – Wednesday, April 21, 2010

Just me and the Taly Lolli Pop today. Alexa is at Jane's (her old daycare). Now I can take Natalya to the "blue park" (as Alexa calls it) and go for a stroller ride all the way around Sunset Lake. =)
Day 146 – Tuesday, April 20, 2010
Follow-up doctor visit this morning for Natalya. It went well! No more ear infections and her weight is up 2 LBs since her late March visit. She had to get three shots (standard 15-month shots), so she did cry for a little bit, but it was not too bad. She's a trooper!
Day 145 – Monday, April 19, 2010
Another week, another beautiful Spring day here in MN. It sure makes my job easier when we have nice weather. I'll be getting out with the girls today. Perhaps a park with a bike ride, although Alexa punctured a hole in her rear bike tire yesterday. Just a ware and tear thing with the skidding when she brakes. We'll have to go shopping for a new one today.
Well, after two hours of working on the bike tire, I finally got it. Not an easy task to do, especially while watching two little one's and one chomping at the bit to go rider her improved bike. My hands could use a massage and some TLC.
Week 31
Day 144 – Friday, April 16, 2010

It's Friday. yay.
Park with the girls this morning, then to the grocery store. I got this itch to make peanut butter rice krispie treats. I figured it would give the girls some protein while eating a treat. Alexa, for some reason, decided she wanted to eat the PB right out of the jar. To think ... I was worried she would not like the krispie treats with PB in them. (See pic. I also put a pic up of her in her PJ outfit for school from yesterday)
Day 143 – Thursday, April 15, 2010
10 Years from now: "Remember that time you wrote the job description and didn't get the job. Haha. It's so nice we can laugh about it now."
PJ day at school for Alexa today. The kids all get to wear their PJ's to school. Sally went out with Alexa to pick out some new threads last night.
Day 142 – Wednesday, April 14, 2010
Sunny morning, with rain in the forecast for this afternoon. I'll be getting out with the girls this morning. Possibly to a park or something.
Of course, the day I want to get to the park before the rain gets here, natalya desides to sleep in! =)
We'll be going to Kelley Park after she wakes and has some breakfast.
Kelly park was a blast! Myra joined us for the festivities, then it was off the Culver's for lunch.
Back home just in time to beat the rain. Natalya down for a nap and Alexa having quiet time watching Charlotte's Web while I do some recon on the job hunt ... and update this thing.
Day 141 – Tuesday, April 13, 2010
Not much going today. Quick walk up the street in the morning with the girls, but it was still cool from an overnight rain/hail storm.
Alexa had school today. They played outside in the park, as it was nice and sunny (and upper 60's) by afternoon in school.
I surprised Alexa with some Oreo's in the car ... but only because she was good in school. Natalya nibbled ons some too.
Talya basically skipped her nap today, except for the ride home from dropping Alexa off at school, so I put her back down for a nap after we got home from picking Alexa up. She needed it.
More playing outside this afternoon with the neighborhid kids today I am sure. I'm letting Alexa take is easy a bit inside while Talya naps.
Day 140 – Monday, April 12, 2010

Our morning is starting off with finger painting for Alexa!
We drove to Sunset park this morning after breakfast (the park with the big path around the lake). I figured Alexa could ride her new scooter (early birthday gift from Grandpa Albers) around and then we could play in the park. About half way to driving there (it's about a 10 minute drive), Alexa tells me she does not want to go to the blue park. I was thinking this is the blue park, but I took the risk and drove there anyways. Boy, was that a bad decision. She was not a happy camper. So, I turned around and we went to the all wooden park closer to our house in Lakeville. We did the scooter thing a little, then played in the park for a long while and had snacks. Lexi made some friends to play with and Talya had fun making her way around to all sorts of stuff.
Honey, we need more Iceee Pops! I just handed out a hoard and a half to the neighborhood kids!
Week 30
Day 139 – Friday, April 9, 2010
I am writing this on the eve of April 9. Tomorrow (today, Friday), I'll be off early for a morning interview session. Sally will bring Alexa to work with her and Grandpa Albers will be Natalya all to himself. I'm sure she'll love it!
Think good thoughts for my interview!
Day 138 – Thursday, April 8, 2010
Alexa crawled into our bed around 6:30 this morning (I was already downstairs) and she is still sleeping at almost 8:30. Well, 8:27 and she is up. Still, this is the latest she has slept in for quite some time.
Well, as you may have read on Natalya's page, we had her 15-month check-up yesterday. Aside from her still having her ear infections (for which they prescribed a new drug), she is dojng pretty good ...EXCEPT, her weight. I feel like a bit of a failure. She has hardly gained any weight since her 1 year, which is basically when we stopped giving her formula. I try all the time to keep feeding her and I try to mix up the diet to go for things she likes. She just does not want to eat all that much. So, we are now going to give her Pediasure twice a day to supplement her diet. I hope our skinny-minny starts to put on some L-B's.
Natalya is doing such a good job eating this morning. She had a whole banana, ate all her eggs, is eating her yogurt, took her 4ml squirt of ear infection drugs like a pro and I haven't even given her a drink yet. When I do, it will be Pediasure! That stuff tastes pretty decent too (Vanilla flavored)!
I did my first triple pony-tail for Alexa today. Not too shabby (she pic)!
I didn't have to wipe Natalya's nose once today! I'm sure she's even happier than I am about it. Sally did wipe it once later today after playing outside with her some. Still, she is improving!
Day 137 – Wednesday, April 7, 2010
Natalya's 15-month appointment later this morning.
I am at Caribou early after dropping the VW off at the dealer for a check-up. I'm prepping for a 3-hour interview session Friday morning. This will be my first "official" interview. I have high hopes, as I think it presents a great opportunity. Think positive thoughts!
Sally will be home all day, working though. I'll need to do my best to keep the girls away from her. Maybe I'll take them out to lunch or something. No rain today, although it's cooler than it has been (mid-50's), so we'll be able to play outside some.
Day 136 – Tuesday, April 6, 2010
Back to school for Alexa today.
All she wants to do this morning is play the "Green Eggs & Ham" game she got for Easter from Myra. =)
alexa says about the game to me this morning: "We're going to play these a lot of times. Taly's never going to wake up. She needs a lot of sleep."
Day 135 – Monday, April 5, 2010
Busy week on tap ...
Back to school for Alexa. 15 month appointment for Natalya. Service for the VW. Sprinklers get their Spring start-up. Interview for a job for Daddy.
Nice morning, although we're expecting cooler weather and some rain for the netx couple of days. So, me and the girls went to the park this morning. We went to a smaller park near our house and had it all to ourselves. Natalya was being happy in the swing for a good twenty minutes, sometimes when Alexa and I were on the slide and not "with" her. That's the longest I've ever seen her be happy in a swing, that I can recall.
Week 29
Day 134 – Friday, April 2, 2010
Natalya is doing good this morning. She woke up about 9. No fever, no crying ... and .... NO RUNNY NOSE! Yet at least.
She is eating eggs, daddy's oatmeal (with raisins, cinnamon and brown sugar) and drinking water/pedialyte.
Maybe her fever broke last night, because Sally got up at 1:30 and she was a "hot potato". Sally gave her two bottles of water that she gulped down and changed her into cooler clothes. Weird, because she did not have a temp (or feel warm) at all during the day.
It will be so much easier for me on my interview today (a second interview ... which I think could lead to an offer) knowing myu baby girl is doing better. Mind is clear and ready for the challenge!
Day 133 – Thursday, April 1, 2010
We're back. Natalya was doing better last night. Depending on how she is this morning, I may take them to the zoo.
Not sure on the zoo. Natalya seems better this morning, but she has some thick stuff coming out of her nose. She does seem much happier when she is outside though, so maybe a stroller ride around the zoo will be nice for her.
I should mention how thankful I am that Myra took Alexa to the park (two parks even!) yesterday, and then to lunch. It was nice that Alexa got to spend some time away from the house on the nice day we had. Sally ended up staying home yesterday after the doctor visit too.
Alexa also got a lot of playtime in with Payton yesterday afternoon and into the evening, as we had the Roach's over for dinner on the back deck.
Alexa got herself some oreo like cookies while I was on a business call. So after my call, I notice she is just licking off the frosting, as usual. I ask he to eat all the cookie. She says she wants milk for that. So I get her milk. She then says "let me show you what I did with the cookies from the other day". I then recalled how she did not finish her cookies the other day, but I had figured she threw them in the garbage. Apparently not (see picture). It reminds me of how I used to hide fod I didn't want to eat in the wooden wine case in our dinisng room when I was a kid. I was not a huge fan of PB & Cheese sandwiches, as I recall.
Day 132 – Wednesday, March 31, 2010
Sick kids are no fun. Natalya up at 7:30 today, crying a lot. Nothing seems to comfort her. Holding her does help some. I don't think we'll be going to the zoo today.
Sally came home ot take Natalya to the doctor. I'm pretty sure her throat is hurting, so hopefully she does not have strep. We're also hoping she does not have an ear infection. Sally got those a lot as a kid and even had one last year. Sally is actually showing her own signs of sickness now too and may have a sinus infection (to be followed by an ear infection) oncoming. It looks like Daddy Daycare may be taking care of a third.
Well, Natalya has ear infections in both ears. I feel horrible. Sally wanted to make an appointment yesterday and I said I thought she was fine and that they wouldn't be able to do anything. I may not be posting anything for a couple of days. Anyone who is reading can call Sally for an update. Sorry, but I am sick of feeling like I have to update whoever reads this stuff on this blog. Wish us the best.
Day 131 – Tuesday, March 30, 2010
Three straight days in the 70's forecasted starting today! Not too shabby for March in MN. We'll get out some today, provided Talya is not too under the weather. She was doing better last night, so I hope she is getting past her sickness.
No school this week for Alexa, so it's good we have nice weather to play outside. We'll probably do the jumper later today and hit a park around the neighborhood.
Tomorrow, the zoo is on tap!
Day 130 – Monday, March 29, 2010
101.4 temp for Talya this morning. She started showing signs of sickness late yesterday. We think it's probably teething,as she has a runny nose, feels warm and has a rash on her bunzles. We gave her Motrin before bed last night and I gave her Tylenol this morning. I'll be keeping an eye on her.
Alexa watched some of the Letters and Numbers videos Grandpa Albers bought her this morning. She was talking along during many of the parts. It was cute. We're going to show Natalya some of this too and she if she can get a jump start on that stuff.
Temp down to 100.3 for Natalya this afternoon. She's been eating better too.
Week 28
Day 129 – Friday, March 26, 2010
I have a lunch interview today, so Grandpa Albers (Pawnee) and maybe Myra will be watching the girls for a couple of hours.
Today's interview is through a connection I had from IB, where the CEO of this company reached out directly to me about a position he will be filling at the end of April. Also, I already have a second interview set up from my Wednesday interview, so this week is looking good on the job hunt front!
Sadly, I can foresee an end to Daddy Daycare. When it does end, I'll sure miss sharing so much time with the girls. I suppose it will make me want to get as much out of the limited time (comparatively) I will then be spending with them.
Day 128 – Thursday, March 25, 2010
Alexa seems to be into french toast of late, which is a pretty good thing. She gets some whole grains and protein, hidden beneath the sweet yumminess of syrup, whipped cream and a cherry on top.
Today, however, I made the mistake of giving her bread with nuts in it. I didn't realize they were in there (I actually like it like that). Alexa says "I like Gammy's bread better". Well, Gammy is in Arizona, so deal with it! =) ... I didn't say that, of course.
Day 127 – Wednesday, March 24, 2010
Sally took Alexa to the doctor this morning. She has a virus, but no strep. We'll monitor her for the next couple of days and get a prescription drug if we still need it at the end of the week.
No sign of sickness for Talya yet. Knock, knock, knock on wood. Fingers crossed.
Given the choice of Daddy's eggs or a donut, Natalya chose Daddy's eggs! =) She ate some donut too, but had eggs first.
I have an interview this afternoon (2nd interview of three for this week), so Sally will be coming home for a long lunch break. She also has a late running meeting at work tonight, so this will be a nice reprieve for her.
As I was prepping for my interview this morning, I saw a couple of ducks waddle into the backyard. perhaps they are staking ou a spot to raise their brood. I'm sure you all remember how well (not) it turned out for the duck brood on our front porch last year. See video
Day 126 – Tuesday, March 23, 2010
We went for a ride around the neighborhood in the Pink Jeep. Well, I walked along side as the girls drove, with their shades on, of course.
School for Alexa today. She does not have school again for two weeks, with conferences on Thursday and next week off for Spring Break. I think we'll take the family to the Caribbean this year, not. =)
Day 125 – Monday, March 22, 2010
Natalya is loving pears! Last week, and this past weekend, she was all into the pears in fruit cups (Del Monte). So I bought some more of those at the store, but I also bought some fresh pears. She loves those too!
Aside from Alexa having a slight cough this morning (too much playing outside without a jacket on this weekend, perhaps?), the week is starting out great! Lexi has played some computer games, both girls are eating well.
I also have a phone interview this morning and two in person interviews for separate postions later this week, including a lunch interview on Friday. Yay!
Webcam with Sheryl and Bob in Cali this morning. Alexa took about 30 photos of them. I chose to only post one on here though. =)
Went for a walk down to the park with the girls this afternoon. Alexa rode her bike down and I pushed her and her bike back up, also pushing Talya in the stroller.
Grandpa Albers swang by with a couple of new swings for the girls. We got rid of the horse swing and added another regular swing, as well as a new bucket swing for Natalya.
Week 27
Day 124 – Friday, March 19, 2010
Natalya's been in a weird funk all week (no, not talking about her being sick, as she seems to be over that). She's been very fussy at times. When she is unhappy, she will "run" to the other side of the room, or to another room, and cry, pout, stomp and be mad in general. You try to find out what is bothering her and then try to comfort her. Usually, after some loving and holding and direct attention she will be happy and go back to playing.
Day 123 – Thursday, March 18, 2010
It's funny ... today the March Madness NCAA Tourney starts. What's funny is that I will probabaly watch less of it today at home than I have in past years while at work. haha
It is suppose to be pretty nice out today, sunny and upper 50's, maybe even low 60's. We have a cold front coming in tomorrow, so we'll get back to avergage March temps. We'll be taking advantage of playing outside today as much as we can.
Myra is picking Alexa up from school today, then she play with Alexa (tea party or puzzle, perhaps?). We're all heading to Myra's for dinner.
Day 122 – Wednesday, March 17, 2010
Alexandra gets to go to Jane's today. Natalya and I will pick her up, so we'll see if Talya remembers it at all.
It's suppose to be mid 50's and sunny later today. Talya and I will definitely get some outdoor time in. Maybe a long walk around the neighborhood, or even a trip to Kelley Park in Apple Valley, since they have a nice rubberized floor and we don't have to worry about getting messy. Me or her. =)
Who knew solid poop could make one so happy! Yes, Talya had a fairly solid poop this morning. I'll still keep her away from milk products today though. And I read to "Avoid fruit juices, peas, pears, peaches, plums, prunes and apricots until the stools are back to normal" ... so I'll do my best at that.
Day 121 – Tuesday, March 16, 2010
Two player Disney Princesses. Who knew!!!???
Ever have one of those diaper changes that you know is going to stick in your memory for the entire day? Well, I just did. Very stinky, pretty wet, very full. I just hope Talya isn't getting the stomach flu thing Alexa had last week and I have had in the last couple of days.
It sure is nice when Alexa helps to get her self ready (see pic). Now if she could only do pony-tails!
"I wanna go to Chucky Cheese" amidst crying and whining is how Alexa returned from school today. So, after being given directions, Rara took Alexa off for some fun! I might have gone with Natalya, but I figured I better not with her being sick in the stomach some. It was a good call too, because just a few minutes after they left, she unloaded.
Day 120 – Monday, March 15, 2010
Sitting in the recliner with Alexa. She is watching Madagascar 2 and we are both watching the The Owl Box (http://www.ustream.tv/channel/the-owl-box). Thanks for the link Grandpa Bob!
Went for a Pink Jeep ride around the neighborhood this morning. Alexa loves driving her sister around. Afterwards, Lexi also rode her bike around while I pushed Natalya around in the stroller.
It's certainly not as nice as yesterday (it was low 60's and sunny!), but cloudy and low 50's is not bad for March.
The sun is out! Makes my day a little brighter, which I needed after hearing back from the place I had a second interview with, as they are going a different direction.
Week 26
Day 119 – Friday, March 12, 2010
Alexa had a piece of french toast today, with whipped cream and a cherry. She ate it all!
We'll be heading out some after Natalya wakes. Maybe to the library. Natalya has been stuck inside all week, except for a couple rides in the car and dinner at Myra's, without any interaction with other kids.
Two days in a row where Talya has dug yogurt. She had some peaches today too.
Off to the library, then maybe Mexican for lunch!
Day 118 – Thursday, March 11, 2010
Alexa up early ... before mommy and daddy were ready to get up.
And for breakfast, she wants chicken nuggets (with honey, of course). And now she tells me she wants "shrimpies" and fish sticks.
I'll feed her whatever she wants, as long as she eats it. I'll be monitoring her all morning to see if I want to have her go to school or not.
We'll be doing webcam with Grandma Sheryl today. It's her birthday!
No school for Alexa today. She is too sick with her tummy and all. Oh well, at least she gets to do her Carnival at school on Saturday.
Rainy (thunderstorms) today, so we will be staying inside. Movies, games and relaxing should help Alexa. I also got her some children's Pepto.
Oh how Natalya sooooo wants to have one of Alexa's Pepto's.
"They're my favorite!" -- Alexa talking about Pepto tablets. I used one as a pwan to get her to drink a bottle full of Pedialyte. It worked! We have to limit her to 3 pills per 24 hours, so she can't have another until tonight.
She also had a piece of toast with jelly on it and a couple crackers. Hopefully she is making a turn for the better.
sally did make an appointment at the pediatrician tomorrow for Alexa, just in case.
Alexa down for a nap on the couch while watching Horton Hears a Who. Talya and I will relegate to the toy room.
Tummy Talk Tracker: She last mentioned her tummy or butt at about 10:30 am.
Day 117 – Wednesday, March 10, 2010
More not wanting to eat much and having problems pooping for Alexa. A bit of diarhhea for her, although it's getting better. I got some pedialyte for her, but she does not care much for it. I am going to try and disguise it with Sprite tomorrow.
Day 116 – Tuesday, March 9, 2010
Alexa is a bit off again today. She keep saying her tummy is sick. She won't hardly eat anything either. She is drinking milk and OJ fine though.
Natalya, apparently, loves PB & J Toast! Crunchy too.
Day 115 – Monday, March 8, 2010
Been a lazy Monday. Cloudy out, but decent temps in the low 40's. Alexa has been a little off all day. She may have a little cold or maybe is just tired from all the activity yesterday. We're taking it easy though. Some movies, some webcam, some toy room games, some Wii. Just another day in paradise!
Talya fell asleep on the way to drop Alexa off at school. The transfer into her crib did not go so well. Now she is just yapping away up there. But she only got 25 minutes sleep in the car. Sigh.
Week 25
Day 114 – Friday, March 5, 2010
Ahh ... Friday.
Looking to get outside with the girls some. Probably take a stroll around the neighborhood while they ride in the pink jeep.
I'm bringing them by Sally's work late this afternoon so I can meet an old work buddy for coffee.
My Skype interview went pretty well yesterday. At one point just before it started, I thought I heard Natalya rusting about (only an hour or so into her nap). She ended up not waking for another hour and a half, so she had a good, long nap.
I'm thinking about starting a new diet fad called the "Only Eat Your Kids Leftovers Diet". I think I could get plenty of nutrients and still manage to lose a few L-B's.
Both girls napping. Mommy will be so happy to have two fresh faced little girls to tote around the office.
Day 113 – Thursday, March 4, 2010
Of course, the day I want Talya to sleep in so that I can have her take a late nap so I can do a Skype interview this afternoon ... she is up at 8:30! =)
... she fell back asleep for another 30 minutes, so that is good.
Talya is eating her strawberries and ham chunks well for breakfast. Alexa had three bites of her toast with PB & J, then she had a whole bunch of grapes.
See, who needs Daddy for Daycare fun ...
(Shared by Myra) Needed to take the time to share a special moment about your girls. This was last Thursday. Di and I had Alexa and Jay dropped off Talya. Vinton joined us for a little bit. Di and Vinton had Talya down by the fireplace. Di was singing to her and she was spinning around in circles, getting dizzy and staggering. They were laughing like crazy. Meanwhile, I had Lu and we were pretending that she was my baby, ready to be born. She positioned herself under my top and was pounding my breasts. I was hysterical and so was she. I would peak under my top to look at her and we would scream and giggle out loud. I looked at the room. All of us were laughing like hyenas and enjoing your girls so much. I wish I could wave a magic wand and freeze them the way they are now. They are, for sure, priceless.
Day 112 – Wednesday, March 3, 2010
Wow ... 10:45 and Talya still sleeping. It was a long day for her yesterday. I'll wake her up pretty soon though.
Interview for me this afternoon downtown. Grandpa Albers will be watching the girls for a couple hours. Does DQ do delivery? =)
Nice day out today. We played on the front patio a bit this morning (see pics).
Day 111 – Tuesday, March 2, 2010
We have an eye check-up appointment for Natalya this morning. We'll probably hit up BK after, although Alexa does have school later too, so we need to get ready for that too.
I found out yesterday that I have a second interview with one of the places I phone interviewed with a couple weeks ago. This second interview will be on webcam via Skype. That will be a first!
We did make it to BK, but I could only handle so much of it, so we went to school a little early. As in 30 minutes early. Luckily I had a couple of snacks in the car for the girls, and water. Lexi likes sitting in the front seat pushing all the buttons.
Day 110 – Monday, March 1, 2010
Spring is in the air! ... sort of. Temps are to be in the mid to upper 30's all week long. Not too bad for the first week of March. At least we'll be able to get out and about and play some out in the snow, and likely, drive the pink jeep around some, as the girls did with Mommy this past weekend.
Week 24
Day 109 – Friday, February 26, 2010
Sorry Mommy, but the new bottles aren't cutting it for Alexa. I can only hear "I want the pink one" so many times before giving into the old bottles.
Friday morning pancakes! All that trouble, then Alexa says she doesn't want to eat them ... as she storms off to her room. Oh the joy!
Day 108 – Thursday, February 25, 2010
I have to admit, going up to Natalya's room after she wakes, to hear her babbling, playing her musical toys in her crib and to she her fresh faced smiley's is a highlight of my every day!
... with another being when my wife comes home. Ahh, to speak adult.
Day 107 – Wednesday, February 24, 2010
Sometimes I find it hard to find the inspiration to blog. Of course, it doesn't take long for the girls to do something that I want to share. Today, Alexa went upstairs and cleaned her room up and then got "wake-up clothes" on all by herself. What a cutie!
A day of staying inside today. It's cold out, so we're staying warm right here!
Are oranges candy? The girls sure seem to think so today. Especially Alexa. She keeps running back into the kitchen saying "more oranges!". ... Four oranges down and counting. My hands are getting raw from peeling. Seriously. It's a price I'll pay though. =)
Day 106 – Tuesday, February 23, 2010
9:30 and Natalya is sleeping. Alexa is making pictures on paper in the kitchen. She is, as usual, being a little loud. I ask her to "Shh, shhh, shhh". She says, "Daddy, you're freaking me out." Where does she get this stuff!?!?!
We went to Bk for lunch prior to taking Alexa to school today. Fun, fun!
Day 105 – Monday, February 22, 2010
Alexa and I played doubles tennis this morning (we won in a nail-biter!) and bowling (she bowled a 100 and I had a 159). Alexa has been playing Disney Princesses the rest of the time.
Natalya up kind of early (9:00). She ate pretty well this morning. She had a slice of cheese, 4 strawberries, a few pieces of Life cereal and some milk.
We're off to the library. We have 3 kids books to return and I have a book for me ready for pick-up that I had to order from another library (The Alchemist).
...scratch that. Alexa is not having any part of the library today. I guess I'll go pick my book up later (maybe after Mommy gets home).
Nice and bright out today and it is suppose to be near 30 again. Alexa and I will have to get out some when Natalya naps later.
Week 23
Day 104 – Friday, February 19, 2010

Zoo Trip Slideshow (many taken by Alexa!)
Zoo today!
Also, I have decided not to track Natalya's diet anymore. It was too much of a job. And, I'm sure I am doing just fine. I'll continue to make sure I am following some of the basic tips for feeding your child: They have small tummies -- small portions, don't fill them up on milk, stay away from sweets for the most part --- empty calories.
Talya up early! ... throwing my plans for the zoo all out of whack. We'll still pull it though.
So much for feeding Talya and egg with ham. She threw half of it on the floor and the other half ended up below her butt on her seat. Maybe she's just not hungry yet.
A story from yesterday that Sally said I should post ... so I am on the webcam with my mom and I go upstairs to change Natalaya's diaper after giving Alexa a cracker stick and cheese snack (pre-packages snack thing). As I am upstairs changing Talya, I hear Alexa cry out very loud and she comes running upstairs crying very loud too. All I am thinking is what the heck happended and whether or not my mom saw what happened on the webcam. It turns out she poked her eye with one of the little cracker sticks. She misfired on her mouth. She was fine after a minute or two, but it did take some holding, hugging and love. Grandma Sheryl didn't see it happen, but she sure heard the crying.
Back home from the trip to the zoo with the girls, Diann and Myra. Both girls upstairs for nap time. Natalya wins baby of the week award. She has been up since 8:45 and was a good girl all the way through the ride home 5 hours later. I expect her to take a good nap. ... Alexa on the other hand.
Alexa did do a fine jon taking photos at the zoo, however. Many of the above photos in the slideshow were taken by her!
Day 103 – Thursday, February 18, 2010
Alexandra is playing some Leap Frog Quick Start this morning. She has been into that again for the last few days. She's playing Disney Princesses now.
Natalya up at 9:45. She ate well this morning! Check Natalya's Diet Tracking.
Got Alexa and Natalya fed for lunch. Lulu was not happy that all three chicken nuggets were the same same. We took Alexa off to pre-school and then I put Natalya right down for a nap and now I have a phone interview.
Day 102 – Wednesday, February 17, 2010
Alexa went to Jane's today (her old daycare). So, the monring is all me alone as Natalya sleeps.
I have an interview this afternoon. It's a 2 hour interview with 4 people. Pretty serious stuff for a first interview!
What to do with Natalya all to myself this morning? ... for one, I am going to start tracking what I feed her (I won't be doing that on this blog). I feel like she doesn't eat much. I do feed her regularly, and then some. I am sure she is fine though. It does not take much to fill her little tummy.
Did some web cam with Grandma Sheryl and Grandpa Bob is Cali this morning. Grandma helped me monitor how many eggs Talya ate. Talya did a good job of hiding some under her seat ... that is until I lifted her up from the chair. haha.
Ahhh .. the quiet. Talya and I have some classical music playing. She's being a good little girl, playing with her toys and coming to me every now and then. We'll have some story time in a few here.
Bath time in the kitchen sink. Had some lunch after. I decided to start posting Natalya's Diet Tracking.
Day 101 – Tuesday, February 16, 2010
No daycare yesterday, as Sally had the day off for President's Day.
We had a belated Valentine's Day celebration after we dropped the kids off, which culminated with some wonderful sushi at Osaka in Apple valley. That was yummy!
I have the morning to myself as the girls stayed at Grandma and Grandpa Albers' last night. I'll get a workout in and job hunting stuff befoe I pick them up later this morning.
Just got another interview for later this week (another new place-- this one via the phone). That will be 4 in 6 business days!
Note to gammy: No more using rubber bands for hair ties! =)
Week 22
Day 100 – Friday, February 12, 2010
100.
I feel like I should be accepting an award or something.
.. giving myself way too much credit.
Off to the library. The girls always have fun there! On a recommendation, I am looking for "The Alchemist" for myself.
Phone interview today, during Talya's nap. Diann and Myra will watch Alexa for a bit for me!
Just got a call for an interview next week. The woman asks "is this a good time for you". I say "yes" ... not 10 seconds later, Talya starts wimpering and whining a bit. She just wanted to talk too! The woman understood. All set for an interview (at their place!) next week.
Day 99 – Thursday, February 11, 2010
Typical Thursday. Alexa had school today. We played some before. Both girls had eggs for breakfast. I made my first ever Barbeque Beef in the pot roast. Natalya took a short nap (only about and hour and a half). Diann and Myra picked Lexi up at school and played at Myra's some.
Day 98 – Wednesday, February 10, 2010
Alexa: "I don't want to be cute. I want to be poopy-butt and spit at you and bite you." Needless to say, the tv is now off.
I can't blame her completely though. I am making a pot roast and i had cut up onions. She wanted to do a project in the kitchen area, but the onion smell was getting to her.
I have an interview downtown today. Myra and Diann will be watching the girls later this morning. Wish me luck!
It's funny ... when I slip sliced apples onto the plate with the pop-tart Alexa was expecting. I get flash backs of my mom doing the same thing to me. When the first thing she goes for is the apple, however, it warms my heart. =)
Day 97 – Tuesday, February 9, 2010
I should have been keeping count on how many times I have said "Mall of America" today. I've been using it as a pawn all morning to keep Alexa in check. We're going there to day after school. We'll be meeting Mommy after work. =)
Day 96 – Monday, February 8, 2010
Both girls are up ...9:30. Alexa and I both woke up about 8:15. Of course, I was up for a couple hours in the middle of the night thinking about stuff.
Snowy out today. We'll be laying low inside.
Alexa watching Ice Age 3 now (we rented it for her to watch while we watched the Super Bowl last night).
I made some of Daddy's special apples for the girls (cut into pieces and cooked on the stove top with some butter, cinnamon and sugar).
The kid clogged the toilet with WAY too much TP. She takes after her mom with that trick! ... fun day so far.
Sort of funny story ...
Alexa worked on the next letter of her name today, which is the E and the e. Now the funny part ...
We made som popcorn this afternoon. Alexa was sort of choking on a piece (not really, but she acted like she was). So I ran into the kitchen to get some water for her. As I enter the kitchen, I step onto one of the letters for the magnetized letter "game" that is on the fridge (Natalya is always taking them off the fridge and putting them onto the floor). So anyways, I have this excruciating pain on my instep from this letter I stepped on. I look down, and what do you know, it's the capital "E". The day has come full circle.
Week 21
Day 95 – Friday, February 5, 2010
Both girls are sleeping in today. 8:30 and Alexa is still not up yet.
It might have something to do with both mommy and daddy being up early. I've been up since 4:30 with jobs and life on my mind. I woke Sally up at six and let her know the traffic was going to be bad because of wet snow we had overnight (and still falling). She was off to work by 6:30 to beat the traffic. My point being ... we have not been stirring upstairs at all since then, so maybe that is helping Alexa sleep in.
I'm meeting a friend for lunch today, so Diann and Myra will be watching the girls this afternoon.
Alexa up now, 8:37. What a joy too. She says, "Daddy, where's mommy." I tell her she is at work. She says, "I hate you Daddy." I ask her why. She says, "Kid come I don't like you."
... A couple of minutes later, she says "I want to watch a kid movie and have some chocolate milk." My girl is back! =)
11 am and Talya is still sleeping. Not a peep. I was worried, so I went in to cehck on her. She was sleeping on her tummy. I had to touch her to make sure she was still breathing. I couldn't really tell by touching her back, so I touched her face a little. After a couple touches, she moved and woke up. She was a little pissed off, but nothing that Daddy's shoulder could not cure. She was a happy camper within 15 seconds and she was fully awake and kicking on her chaning table within a minute or two.
Day 94 – Thursday, February 4, 2010
Posting at the end of the day (after Mommy has come home) ... while sipping a glass of red.
Natalya slept in late today (10:30), so Alexa and I had plenty of time with just the two of us this morning. Starting with this morning, we are going to do workbook stuff on a daily basis. Today she traced both the upper case "A" and the lower case "a", and then colored some pretty pictures of an Alligator and antteater, respectively. The best thing, to me at least, is that she was able to know what letter she had traced and which was upper and lower. She even knew at the end of the day after mommy got home. Not bad for 3 and 3/4 years old! We'll be doing the letters of her name to start, then the rest of the alphabet I guess. We posted them up on the window.
After dropping Alexa off at school, Natalya and I had some together time. We played, read a couple of books and then she took a bath before nap time. After her nap, we were off the the grocery store for some essentials (namely Hershey's light chocolate syrup for Alexa's milk).
Day 93 – Wednesday, February 3, 2010
Coupled with my first workout in over a week yesterday, my arm is sore from Wii Sports yesterday. Trying to put backspin on your tennis shot is hard work!
I'll be getting out with the girls this morning. Not sure where yet. We'll have to see where the wind takes us (it's actually suppose to be decent out for February ... mid 20's).
I'm meeting a couple of old workmates for Happy Hour tonight, so Sally will be home a little early.
Fun time at the library. Natalya was all about climbing onto the chairs (and sometime then the tables) just to keep Daddy on his toes. Alexa loves going around the aisles and putting all sorts of books into her basket (they let the kids do that with kids books). We checked one out ... a SpongeBob book, of course.
Day 92 – Tuesday, February 2, 2010
A late update from the day after ...
We did some webcam with Sheryl and Bob in the morning.
Diann came by and helped get Alexa all cute for school.
Talya napped.
Alexa passed her sight and hearing tests at school!
Back home for play time with the girls before Mommy came home.
Off to the gym for daddy.
Day 91 – Monday, February 1, 2010
...

Week 20
Day 90 – Friday, January 29, 2010
Heart check-up for Natalya this morning based on a slight irregularity they saw when she was in the hospital at two weeks. Essentially, this morning was a waste of time, as the doc said he won't do an EKG or any other major tests this early. He basically said she is just fine and that we should come back when she is 4 years to officially give her a clean bill of health (mostly for insurance purposes he said). I guess they don't (or he doesn't) like ot administer those kind of tests when they are this young. Too hard to handle or something.
I took the girls to Trader Joe's after the doctor visit in St. Paul. They were both little angels! Of course, my letting Alexa pick out a treat helped. She got some chocolate covered mini peanut butter crackers. Talya liked them too! Daddy got 10 cheap bottles of wine!
Day 89 – Thursday, January 28, 2010
I am playing Wii Sports with Alexa this morning. There is a "Wii Fit" game in Wii Sports where you do a variety of activities and it then gives you a "Wii Fit Age". I was 46 on my first try. =/ ... of course, going 0 for 10 on the home run derby did not help. Alexa's "Wii Fit Age" was 58, so I don't feel so bad I guess. =)
Day 88 – Wednesday, January 27, 2010
Natalya slept in again. Up at 10. We're off to BK!
BK was good. It sure helps to go right after Natalya wakes.
Day 87 – Tuesday, January 26, 2010
8:45 am. Alexa gets her little red chair and brings it into the kitchen. I know she's up to something. I offer to make her breakfast ... pancakes, eggs, pop-tart ... anything. She goes right to the candy jar and grabs a Hershey's Kiss. I proceed to inform her she can't have that for breakfast. She proceeds to get mad, starts crying and runs upstairs to her room (not quetly mind you, as her sister still sleeps).
Luckily, Natalya did not wake. After a couple minutes, Alexa came back downstairs with Gameboy in her hands and sat on the couch to play. She warmed back up to me after a few minutes and wanted cereal. She also wanted Daddy to play the game with her, which I did.
School for Alexa later today. Depending on timing (aka - when Talya wakes up), I might take the girls to BK for lunch prior to school. I'd like them to get some play time in outside of the house, for their benefit and mine. =)
Ok, scratch that. 10:45 and Talya still sleeping. Looks like we'll do bath time for the girls before bringing bib sis' to school.
Day 86 – Monday, January 25, 2010
Alexa up at 8:30, Daddy up at 8:45 and Natalya up at 10:30.
I had been up from 3:00 to 5:00 this morning (lots on my mind ... Vikings loss to the Saints, finding a job, etc...), so I needed a little extra sleep today.
Alexa doing some line tracing in her "Big Pre-school Workbook".
Natalya climbed onto her new scooter/bike she got for her birthday and was pushing herself around a little bit. She still needs to work on the steering part of the equation.
After today (which is snowy and windy), cold week on tap. Highs are not forecasted to get out of the teens until Sunday. Lows in the negatives Wed, Thurs and Fri. Frown.
Both girls down for naps at 2. Happy face.
Week 19
Day 85 – Friday, January 22, 2010
7 am and I am just back from the gym. I finally made it there early! It's so much better to get the workout out of the way before the day begins.
I think I'll take the girls to the zoo today. It's suppose to stay in the low to mid 30's today, so I think we might even be able to take in the Russia's Grizzly Coast and Minnesota Trail exhibits (both outside, but covered/enclosed).
Well, we managed to hit the inside stuff and the two outdoor exhibits I mentioned. Fun, as usual.
Driving home around 12:45 I had to make a gameday decision to either go straight home or go to lunch at Culver's. I opted for Culver's. In hindsight, I think I got greedy. Natalya definitely hit a wall there and Alexa would hardly touch her lunch (chicken fingers and fries). My salad was good at least. Luckily, the kids lunch comes with a free custard scoopie. Alexa was all about that (at least I made her eat some chicken before we could get it). And, for some reason, they gave me a second scoopie for free (the lady said the other token thing on the bag got it for free, but I think she was just being nice to me or something). Natalya loved her own custard scoopie! Both girls had vanilla with blue and white sprinkles. Daddy too, by virtue of the "daddy gets a few bites of your ice cream" rule.
Back home at 1:30, both girls down for naps at 1:45. Daddy taking a breather and hoping they actually nap for a couple of hours here (as I hear Talya yapping up there on the monitor). I have faith that the Daddy Daycare Gods are looking down upon me today though.
Day 84 – Thursday, January 21, 2010
Alexa watching Bolt to start the day. She remembered that we would not let her watch it last night because it was too late and time to get ready for bed. She got her redemption!
Natalya woke at 7:30 (way too early!), but I gave her a bottle and she is back asleep now. Hopefully she sleeps until 10, per usual of late.
After Bolt, Alexa wants to play computer. PBSKids.org it is.
Day 83 – Wednesday, January 20, 2010
Good interview/meet & greet this morning for me.
Vinton and Myra watched the girls. Both seemed happy when I got home (the girls and the adults!).
Alexa: "Daddy, sometimes I love you and sometimes I don't love you, but right now I love you."
This, after I let her have quiet time (hopefully a nap) in mommy and daddy's room with the Nintendo GameBoy.
Day 82 – Tuesday, January 19, 2010
Back to normal.
Alexa up early, even before Sally got off to work. She played on the computer most of the morning. A mix of Nickjr.com and PBSkids.org. She also ate a banana and an apple for breakfast.
Natalya slept until 10 today. Once up, she was pretty hungry. She dined on eggs, some cinnamon and maple Life cereal and banana.
Off to school for Alexa, then back home for a Natalya nap while I prep for an meet & greet/informal interview tomorrow morning.
Gammy and Rara picked Alexa up from school. Of course, she came home toting a chocolate ice cream cone! She had an early dinner with them at DQ. =)
Day 81 – Monday, January 18, 2010
Fun day today! Sally was off for MLK, so it was a nice day with the family and not much else going on (no NFL playoff games to distract me).
After a morning interview I had, we were off to Chuckie Cheese for some lunch and games. Alexa was all over the place there trying to figure out where to spend her coins! Natalya seemed very engaged with all the flashing lights, playing kids and other neat things she had never seen.
While Natalya napped, Alexa and I played outside and gave mommy a bit of a break. I built a platform of snow just off of our front porch so you can get a nice sledding run in down our front yard. Luckily, there's a good bank of snow along the street to stop you from going into the street. I seemed more into the new sled run I built that Alexa did. She was more into me knocking the icicle's down so she could eat them. Nonetheless, I think I'll build my snow platform a little higher and a little further back to make it THE ultimate run.
Good interview with a recruiter last week, a good interview with a consulting firm already this week and later this week I have a meeting with a contact at an interactive agency with a couple of interesting, potential opportunities. Job stuff is looking up!
Week 18
Day 80 – Friday, January 15, 2010
Day off for me today. The girls stayed at Grandma and Grandpa Albers' last night and they'll be there all day. Something tells me Rara will be in the mix too. =)
Alexandra and Natalya will have a ball! ... and a tea party or two.
I already miss them. By now (10am), Alexa would have had her milk, watched some kid shows and been itching to play with Daddy. Natalya would just about be ready to get up and Alexa and I would be getting ready to go into her room to play and get her out of her crib.
I miss my girls.
I'll have a nice day to myself though. Getting some stuff done on the job hunt and getting out to run some errands without any hassle. =)
Day 79 – Thursday, January 14, 2010
Quiet morning on tap before Alexa has pre-school later today.
Alexa is painting a picture for Daddy. I love how she takes the initiative to do fun stuff like that.
Sometimes I feel like I don't get to really enjoy this time with my daughters because it is just a job. Like today, struggling to get them both fed, get Alexa to daycare, timing it perfectly so that Natalya can get put right to bed when I get home so that I can then concentrate on a 1:00 phone interview. Needless to say, I was a little stressed getting everything in order. At least I remembered to bring something Dinosaur related for Lexi's class today. She is bringing a flying dinosaur reptile mask from one of the "dinosaur mask books" we have (technically it is a Pteranodon, but I wasn't going to tell her that because I can't hardly even pronounce it myself).
Day 78 – Wednesday, January 13, 2010
Natalya sleeping in today. I'm sure she was exhausted from her trying day yesterday. Poor babe's.
Once she's up, we'll be getting out a bit. Maybe even to play in the snow later. It's supposed to be in the mid-30's the rest of the week. Time to get the shorts out!
Lunch at BK. Alexa found a friend, as always. Natalya played a lot today. Lots of walking around amongst all the running boys and girls. It must have been Daddy Day or something, because there were five other father's with their kids and only one mom. Perhaps a sign of the economy, unfortunately.
Natalya napping while Alexa plays some Wii Sports Resort by herself (with Daddy helping some).
Day 77 – Tuesday, January 12, 2010
Year one doctor visit for Natalya today. Daddy had to miss it so I could bring Grandma Sheryl to the airport. Alexa came with me for the ride.
Back home after picking Natalya up at the doctor. She is doing quite well, considering all they put her through at the year one visit.
Thinking back to Alexa, that was one of the worst days of my life. I really hated the part where she had to have her blood drawn. The experience has left scars on me for life.
Natalya seems to be doing great though! Eating some eggs and ham now. She has also been playing with her sister with her new birthday toys.
Alexa: "Daddy, I need help wiping."
Daddy: "Ok."
Alexa: "I have a family of poops. There's a mommy poop, a daddy poop, a Lexi poop and a Taly poop."
After we flush, Alexa: "Bye bye mommy poop. Bye bye daddy poop. Bye bye sissie poop." (sorry, I won't be posting any photos of this episode)
I knew it was too good to be true for me being spared some of the agony of Natalya's year one blood draw. She somehow managed to take the band-aid off her finger and I didn't notice for about a half-hour. It was still bleeding pretty good. Her clothes had red dots all over. When I went to change her clothes, I finally saw the bleeding finger tip. Oh the agony!
It's a sundae afternoon with my girls. vanilla, chocolate, hot fudge, sprinkles, marshmallows ... so yummy. Natalya is a mess!
Day 76 – Monday, January 11, 2010
Last day with Grandma Sheryl in town. We'll be heading to Edinborough Park in Edina. Always a good time!
The park was fun. Alexa has definitely lost any ounce of fright she had with the big slides. She must have slid down the big orange one from the very top at least 10 times. Daddy even went down that one twice! (it was scary!)
Natalya was more into the steps and benches where you sit than she was into the play area things.
Week 17
Day 75 – Friday, January 8, 2010
Another week in the books.
Quiet day today, as the girls stayed at Grandma and Grandpa Albers' last night. Back home with me for nap time before we are off to pick up Grandma Sheryl at the airport.
This weekend, of course, is all about Natalya's first birthday festivities.
Alexa also has her first ice skating lesson!
Day 74 – Thursday, January 7, 2010
Happy first birthday baby girl Natalya!
And on her first birthday, she is greeted with snow and lows in the negative digits with wind chill expected to be 20 below! I think we'll be sticking to the indoors today.
Alexa had fun on the Wii this morning. A mix of Mario kart driving, Disney Princesses and Wii Sports Resort ping-pong and "sword fighting" (fencing).
I turn my head around for one minute and the girls go missing. I find them in the coat closet with the door shut. Alexa brought her flashlight in there. They were being so quiet! Natalya was definitely engaged. Of course, all good things must come to an end at some point.
Birthday girl ate a whole banana and an adult serving of eggs (with ham and cheese) today. They sure are hungry at 1!
Day 73 – Wednesday, January 6, 2010
"We represent the lollipop guild, the lollipop guild, the lollipop guild!" Ahh, nothing like some The Wizard of Oz to start your day off. You too can have this song stuck in your head by clicking here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_CAs3q7G48
Of course, we prefer to call it the Taly Lollipop Guild. And that's pronounced "Tall - E" for all you non-believers.
Alexa went upstairs to get a new shirt on, not letting me go up with her, and she comes back down in a dress and has her fancy shoes in hand. She says she is Dorothy. She then grabs her new dog/pillow and pretends that is Toto. So cute!
Natalya slept until 10:30 today! She needed it though, as she was up a bit last night being fussy. Probably her teeth are still hurting a bit. Poor little girl. Tomorrow she is 1!
Both girls had a nice helping of Daddy Eggs (with ham and cheese). Yum!
Off to run some errands with the girls today before a small snow storm is suppose to arrive later in the day.
Day 72 – Tuesday, January 5, 2010
Well, I won't be getting a third interview, as I am no longer an candidate. Oh well. Moving forward.
Alexa wakes up and won't let me wipe her after she takes her night-time diaper off. I ask her why and she says "kid come I don't love you." Great start to the day! =)
We've had our first casualty of holiday things ... the "Wish for Snow" snow globe. It was a team effort by both girls, but I blame coach Daddy, as he should have seen the game plan. I guess it's fitting that "Wish for Snow" was taken out, because I think we are all past the point of wishing for snow.
Back to pre-school for Alexandra. Of course, she got to wear some of her new stuff to school (see pic). Check out her new boots and her new backpack (Hair by Gammy).
Day 71 – Monday, January 4, 2010
Twenty Ten. A new year ... back to "normal", sort of.
I get the girls back to myself. =)
Alexa starts school again this week.
Natalya turns 1 this week! We'll be having her party next weekend and Grandma Sheryl will be coming to town to help us celebrate. Along with our family and friends here in MN, of course.
It's good to be #1 again! ... at least until mommy gets home after work.
Our first casualty of the holiday stuff ... "Wish for Snow" Snow Globe. It was a teamwork effot on the part of both girls. Coach Daddy takes the blame for the loss though, as he should have seen the game plan.
