Week 16

Day 70 – Monday, December 28, 2009

Another short "work week". Sally is off for the rest of the week starting Wednesday and I have an interview tomorrow (2nd interview!), so Diann will be watching the girls starting late morning.
I'll be getting a full day in and getting out and about with the girls today, however. Might hit up the library and then some lunch, perhaps.
Natalya sleeping in a bit. Alexa and I are playing Disney Prince Enchanted Journey together on the new Wii we got the family for X-Mas. Back to the journey for me ... she's getting mad that I won't come help her find Cinderella. =) ... those darned mailboxes. It took us forever to find the last one. Off to Cinderella we go!
Good trip to the library. Alexa is always the most social child, it seems, wherever we go. She is so good with sharing and playing with other kids.
First trip to the library since Natalay could walk. It was nice letting her roam free a little and not worrying about her so much on the little kids steps they have. She did keep trying to stand on the kids' chairs though as she tried to get to toys on the table. Then when I put the toys on the ground, she would suddenly lose interest in them. I think she just wanted to keep Daddy on his toes.
Nap time for Talya. Alexa pushing me to let her play outside ... it's 20 degrees with a solid breeze. It is sunny though. We may go out and play a little and then have some hot cocoa.
Who knew fruity marshmallows in hot cocoa could be so yummy?! Although, Lexi tells me those are the girl one's and the regular are the boy one's. She wanted regular though.

Week 15

Day 69 – Tuesday, December 22, 2009

Sally is home today
We are bringing Alexa to Jane's (her old daycare) so she can have a fun day with her friends.
All-in-all, a nice day. We got to spend some quality time with Natalya and Alexa had a lot of fun with her friends at Jane's. Of course now she wants to keep going back there. =)
The rest of this week, Daddy Daycare is closed. It's just regular daddy time, as Sally is home. haha

Day 68 – Monday, December 21, 2009

Short "work week' for me this week. Sally is taking tomorrow off, then she is off Thursday and Friday as well.
Burker King for lunch with the girls. Alexa found a number of temporary friends to play with. Lots of running around and, as usual, her trying to lead the way.
Natalya played quite a bit on the lower part of the play set too.
Natalya is up from her nap and Alexa is still asleep. We had a bit of an overflow issue with Talya's diaper, so it's bath time!
Lexi woke up from all the fun in the tub ... so into the tub for her too!
A couple of clean girls for Mommy.

Week 14

Day 67 – Friday, December 18, 2009

Daddy's special apples for Lulu today. Butter, brown sugar and cinnamon ... heated on the stove for a nice treat in the morning.
I had attended a free webinar on SEO (10 best free things you can use), so I brought the girls to Gammy's to play with her and Rara while I learned a few things. Of course, the girls had lots of fun!
After, we came home for naps, but Alexa was not up for a nap, per usual, so after some "quiet time", we went outside and played in the snow. It was mid-20's today, so it was pretty nice out (for us, at least).

Day 66 – Thursday, December 17, 2009

Wow ... already December 17.
Wow ... only 8:20 and both girls up. Talya crying in bed now. Daddy to the rescue!
Alexa and me made some chocolate chip/butterscotch chip cookies today. She enjoyed eating the chips by themselves the most. =)

Day 65 – Wednesday, December 16, 2009

Birthday party for Alexa to attend today (Isabella turns 4!).
Daddy has a phone interview today, which should coincide perfectly with Natalya's nap. Think good thoughts!
Natalya down for a nap. Alexa off to the party with Myra. Sally will be there too!
Interview went well. 2nd, in-person, interview is scheduled!
Natalya and me are working out vocal chords as wel sing to Dora the Explorer CD with the karaoke machine. She loves hearing my voice and she loves making noises into the mic as she bounces along to the beat.

Day 64 – Tuesday, December 15, 2009

Sally took the day off today and Alexa stayed at Diann and Vin's last night, so we have a quiet morning together while Natalya sleeps in.
Big day today for Alexa. She has her Christmas program at pre-school.
Well, we were not able to get a nap in for Natalya before the school program. Hopefully she'll be engaged enough with all that is going on that she will forget she is tired. =)

Day 63 – Monday, December 14, 2009

Frigid out today and tomorrow, with highs in the single digits and wind-chills in the negative digits. That being said, we won't be playing outside. We'll keep as active as possible inside though. If only we could give Alexa her Wii present early! haha
We do have events this week though. Alexa has her Christmas show tomorrow at Pre-School. She even leaked one of the songs she'll be singing to us. =)
Alexa also has a birthday party to attend Wednesday.
Natalya is walking all over the place now, it seems. She has definitely improved rapidly over the last few days in her ability to walk from one thing to another. She also seems to be favoring to walk over crawling more and more. she also loves to push things around while walking, including her sister (see pic).
Mac & Cheese for lunch for all of us ... Daddy style, with cut up turkey lunchmeat slices and real shredded cheddar cheese. Natalya loves it! Alexa only likes it. =)

Week 13

Day 62 – Friday, December 11, 2009

All is quiet on the Minnesota front ...
Alexa went to Disney Princesses on Ice with Diann, Myra and Aunt Sarah. Alexa stayed at Diann and Vin's last night. Her friend Isabella and her grandma Mary and grandpa Bob are going to Disney on Ice as well. After, they are all going to Chuck-E-Cheese for lunch. So much fun for LuLu!
Meanwhile, I have a quiet start to my morning. Natalya is sleeping in (almost 10 now and she is not up yet) while I work on the computer, enjoy my morning coffee and play "How the Earth was Made" on the tellie (great series on History Channel HD).
Natalya and I went out to run some errands. Although it's cold (low-teens), there is no wind and it's sunny. It makes such a difference!
Back home for some lunch and then a long bath for baby Talya while I work on the computer some (watching her in the bath, of course).
Big cardboard boxes ... a kids best friend (see pic of Alexa behind Natalya).

Day 61 – Thursday, December 10, 2009

Brrrrrr .... -3 degrees out right now, but feels like -17 with the wind chill. This is more like January/February weather. Hopefully we're getting it out of our system!
We have a roaring fire going inside, while Alexa drinks her chocolate milk and watches a kid show (Shrek the Halls) after just getting up. I'm sitting on the couch working on some job hunt stuff.
Alexa has been asking for popcorn all morning. I finally gave in, but not before I made her eat a banana first!
We built a mini village of gingerbread houses. Alexa mostly just wanted to eat the frosting, but she did help with some of the decorations. =)

Day 60 – Wednesday, December 9, 2009

Webcam with Grandma Sheryl and Grandpa Bob this morning. Always a good time!
Off to Myra's (over the snow covered river and through the woods) for Tea Time. Alexa loves her tea set! Natalya wouldn't stay away from the Christmas tree. This would be why we do not have one at our house this year!
Back home for Natalya's nap. Alexa played in the snow with Payton while I cleared the driveway off (she helped a little too). They then played inside our house for a while and then back outside when Sally got home.

Day 59 – Tuesday, December 8, 2009

Well, so much for the late to bed, late to wake theory. Alexa went to bed about 10:00 and Natalya not until 10:30 or so. Alexa was up just as early as always, if not earlier (7:15). Natalya is up just as early as always, if not earlier (9:00). It looks like they may take after their Daddy, who can't sleep in regardless of when he goes to sleep.

Day 58 – Monday, December 7, 2009

Alexa and I built a gingerbread house this morning (using a kit).
She then wanted to go out and play, so I let her play in the back yard while I fed Natalya breakfast.
The girls are playing together very well this morning. Lots of giggles out of Talya. She loves pushing her big sister around on the old Winnie the Pooh train we brought back up from storage. What's old is new again!

Week 12

Day 57 – Friday, December 4, 2009

Quiet morning as Alexa stayed over at Grandma and Grandpa Albers' last night.
After Talya wakes, we'll spend some quiet time together. I think oatmeal is in order for breakfast.
Cold out today (highs in 20's with wind chills in teens), but I think I'll take the girls to Bk for lunch. Need to get some play time in!
Well, it turns out Natalya was not up for going out. Lexi did get to help put ornaments on at Myra's house and she played their too, of course.

Day 56 – Thursday, December 3, 2009

Ahhh ... snow. Well, at least Alexa doesn't seem to mind it. Up bright and early and she wants to go play in it.
It's only 9:30 and Lexi and i have already been outside twice to play in the snow. I had to use hot cocoa to entice her back inside. Made a mocha for myself. =)
Talya still sleeping. Alexa watching Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer while I study up on various Google web products to broaden my knowledge for the job hunt. If anyone else is on the Google Wave preview/beta, send me a wave (jasonsinger1@hotmail.com)!
Off to shcool for Alexa. She got to bring something that made noise to school today, so I let her bring her recorder, although she calls it a flute.
Quiet afternoon for Natalya and me. Some lunch and then a nap ... I even took a short one. Making some headway on the job hunt this week. I have a good feeling the year will end on strong note on that font, or at least 2010 will start strong!

Day 55 – Wednesday, December 2, 2009

Lexi: "Dad, I need something."
Daddy: "What do you need Lexi?"
Lexi: "Somethings telling me to have chocolate popcorn."
Focusing on some job search leads a bit today. Alexa and Talya spent lunch and nap time at Gammy's. Gammy and Rara took them to see Santa after!

Day 54 – Tuesday, December 1, 2009

Back to normal today. Alexa up early, Natalya still sleeping. School for Alexa later.
Lexi is working on coloring some holiday themed wood cut outs.

After arriving home from brin ging Alexa back from school, Natalya grabs her backpack in the car and Alexa says "She can hold it. She is strong. Girl power!"

Day 53 – Monday, November 30, 2009

I had an interview this morning, so Diann and Myra were kind enough to take the girls to a reading at the library. As usual, the girls got rave reviews!
Alexa fought off trying to take a nap (she did do a half hour of quiet time in her room), only to fall asleep to Tinkerbell on the couch. =)
nice long nap for Natalya. I think all the interaction at the library pooped her out!

Week 11

Day 52 – Wednesday, November 25, 2009

Short day today. I'll be bringing the girls to Gammy's this morning so that Alexa can help prepare our Thanksgiving meal and I can go to a lunch meeting.
I'll be picking Natalya up after her nap there, but Alexa gets to spend the night.
I can't wait for the gathering tomorrow!
Sally will be off early today too, so I'll let her spend some alone time with our baby girl.

Day 52 – Tuesday, November 24, 2009

"Daddy, I don't know how to get Dora's clothes on again. She's all naked."
... just another day in paradise.
It's wet out again this morning. Regardless, I've decided to get some holiday lights up outside (it's suppose to be dry this afternoon ). I think I'll go with just putting lights on our two evergreen's in the backyard. I like being able to look back there and see the glisten.
After semi-electrocuting myself, it's off to Fleet Farm to get some new lights. Some of the stuff we have will still work, but we need some color! ... at least Alexa wants color lights.

Day 51 – Monday, November 23, 2009

Short week. Yay!
Wet out today. Suppose to be colder this week, with a chance of snow too. I think we'll do some Turkey Day projects of some sort today.
Both girls down for naps at 12:30. Time to do some job hunting.
Long naps for both girls. 2 1/2 hours for Alexa and 3 1/2 for Talya. I wish I could say I wore them out this morning, but I think they needed it after a busy weekend.
We did a simple "Turkey Hands" project today. Alexa was more into doing other artful doodles, but she was good enough to lend mer her hand and help with some coloring, glue and beads. Natalya held her hand steady just long enough for a trace!

Week 10

Day 50 – Friday, November 20, 2009

Ooops ... just put formula into my coffee mug. Probably not all that different than the powdered creamer stuff, and fortified with iron, nonetheless. I won't be the guinnea pig though.
Off to the store with the girls to get supplies for stew. Talya loves her stewed veggies!
What a great trip to the grocery store! I think I'll have to go right after Natalya wakes up more often. Of course, letting Lexi have a chocolate covered donut with sprinkles right off the bat helped too. For once, she wasn't trying to grab every little treat we came across. =)
Playtime for Alexa and me outside while Natalya sleeps. It's nice and sunny out today. No need for a hat or gloves!
Afternoon nap for Alexa on the couch while Natalya and I play on the front patio in the sun. A nice end to the week.

Day 49 – Thursday, November 19, 2009

Cool and rainy out today, so we'll be staying inside. Alexa does have school today, so that is good.
Webcam with Grandma Sheryl and Grandpa Bob this morning, including bath time for the girls!
Lunch and grocery shopping for Thanksgivign supplies with Gammy for Alexa. Then off to school.
Talya is sound asleep. What a princess.
Ahhh ... the simple things in life that put a smile on your face for the remainder of the day. Like your little one having a perfectly timed bowel movement. Now, normally I would not be so delighted. It just so happens that today I'll be dropping the girls off at Sally's work after we pick Lexi up from school. Mommy will be so delighted too!

This note from Gammy, while running errands with Lexi:
I picked Lu up early for school and we went to Sam's Club to get the Thanksgiving stuff. After a few minutes of riding in the cart she said she wanted to get out.
Gammy: "no - I'd like you to stay in the cart."
She pouted and then said, "Gammy, you are not my best friend."
Gammy: "oh no, is it because I won't let you out of the cart?"
Lu: Yes, Gammy. I say you are not my best friend kidcome you will not let me out of the cart to walk around."
Gammy: "Well, if I let you out of the cart, will I be your best friend?"
Lu: "Yes, Gammy, you will be my best friend in the whole world (said with lots of enthusiasm!)"

Day 48 – Wednesday, November 18, 2009

Semi day-off for me today. Gammy and Myra will be watching the girls for much of the day to give me a day of rest. I'll be networking some, as I follow up on a couple of consulting leads. Of course, I'll do some job searching too. Aside from that, I'll spend some time out for coffee, running errands and getting a workout in.

Day 47 – Tuesday, November 17, 2009

LOts of activity today.
The day started with Alexa sneeking in on me as I prepared to shower. She wanted to shower with me this time though. She first had to explain how boys and girls have different pee-pee's. She went on to say that she didn't want a big pee-pee like me. I was relieved.
After Natalya awoke and we all had some breakfast, we were off on a trip to the library. They finally had a Museum Adventure Pass to the Children's Museum available, so we'll be going there later this week. We checked out three books for Alexa too.
After the library, it was back home for lunch and play-time before taking Alexa to school.
After picking Alexa up at school, we went to the park for a short visit. Although I bundled the girls up, I forgot a hat for myself. It was a bit cold, so we just played for a bit and then went home.

Day 46 – Monday, November 16, 2009

The girls are splitting a banana for breakfast. Alexa also had some eggs and grapes. She actually ate very well today!
Nice and sunny out today. We'll head outside later, after it warms up some.
We went for a stroller and Pink Jeep ride around the neighborhood. Lexi pcked up a bunch of leaves from the ride and put them in the back of her Jeep, only to take them all out in the garage when we got home. More leaves in the garage. Yay!
Alexa: "Where's Mommy, I need her now."
Daddy: Thinking it's because I said we could make cupcakes when mommy gets home, "Why do you need Mommy?"
Alexa: "I want to watch TV. I don't want to play this game anymore (the game being a project with her new painting pens).
Nap time for Talya. Cinderella and, hopefully, nap time for Alexa on the couch.

Week 9

Day 45 – Friday, November 13, 2009

Natalya should sleep in a bit today considering she was awake in our bed for a couple of hours last night. She was fussy last night. Teething, perhaps. I'll be keeping an eye on her ... as if I don't already. =)
When Talya awakes, we're off the BK for play time in their indoor play gym (see pics).
Nearing 11:00 ... Natalya still sleeping. Looks like it will be lunch with the girls.
Both girls down for a nap. Ahhh.
I actually sent off two resumes today. Yay! Job postings have been slow. =/

Day 44 – Thursday, November 12, 2009

Daddy's special apples (cooked on the stope top with some cinnamon and brown sugar) for both girls. Alexa had some eggs too. Then she had an itching for hot cocoa, so I gave in. With a few marshmallows to boot.
Girls are "playing together' in the living room. Alexa dumps all the toys out and let's Talya go to work. Sometimes Alexa gets possessive over things she consider "her games".
So nice and quiet with the TV off and both girls playing happily. Let's see how long this lasts. Start time 9:47.
9:57 ... still relatively quiet. Just a couple cries from Natalya when her big sis is not letting her play Ants in the Square Pants.
9:58 ... A cry from Alexa for Talya pulling her hair. It's really Talya's only defense.
10:03 ... Lexi seems to think she must take every game out from the game closet. Talya's is nearing her limits. I fear my study will be coming to an end soon.
10:14 ... quiet time over. Time for snacks and Alexa calling for Johnny Test.
I've come to a conclusion that brushing Alexa hair is never going to be easy. Do women with long hair have to deal with this their whole lives? What about Mike Bolton?
Gammy and Rara picked Alexa up from school today, followed by a stop at DQ. Alexa must have been a good little girl for them. =)

Day 43 – Wednesaday, November 11, 2009

Last night, Daddy won! (inside thing ... only Sally and Talya know).
Early rise for the little one's.
3/4 of a banana, Cheerio's and milk for Natalya. Power Bar and chocolate milk for Alexa.
Not quite as nice out today, but still a decent fall day. We'll be spending some more time outside.
Alexa and I crafted a Happy Birthday card for GG Bonnie. Lots of sparkles!
A bath for Alexa, even though I said no bath today becasue we took one yesterday. What's a daddy to do when his little girl gets all naked in the kitchen because she wants to take a bath? Of course, once Natalya saw her in the bath, she got all giddy and wanted to play too. Her wish was granted.
Nap time for Talya now. Once she wakes, we'll be off to walk and bike (Alexa) and play at the park.

Day 42 – Tuesday, November 10, 2009

Again writing this at the end of the day. As I reflect back on our day, I think that it was a pretty nice day for me and the girls.
Both were up pretty early this morning. Alexa, just after mommy left, per usual of late. Natalya, a little after 8:00.
Alexa and I each had some toast for breakfast. She, of course, wanted to put the PB&J on it herself. Unfortunately, I let her do this on the couch. That became a bit of a sticky mess that I got to clean up! Serves me right. =)
Talya had peaches, KIX and milk.
After breakfast, I decided to do a bit of vacuuming. Natalya enjoys watching that. Alexa and her sister "played" a bit too (see pic). Alexa also played some NickJR.com stuff. Art ruled the day.
Both girls then got separate baths, Alexa up in her bath and Talya in the kitchen sink.
Gammy took Alexa to school, as Talya napped. Gave me a bit of free time to work on the search and soak up some rays on the front porch.
After Natalya and I picked Alexa up from school it was off the the park.

Day 41 – Monday, November 9, 2009

As I write this at the end of the day, Monday, I realize I am not going to post it to the web just yet. I am going to continue to write stuff all week, as I do know I'll look back on this time and love the fact that I got to spend it with my daughters. To be honest, I'm feeling a bit down on the lack of progress with my job search. I never really thought I'd be doing Daddy Daycare for 9 weeks, let alone 4 or 5. That being said, I am realizing that, as we are just a couple of weeks shy of Thanksgiving, I could very well be doing this into 2010.
Now I digress ...
Thankfully, the weather has been wonderful! It really makes doing things with the girls so much easier when we can spend some time outside. We ran some errands at target this AM, then went for a bike ans stroller ride around the neighborhood before I put Natalya down for a nap.
Alexa and I had some lunch, then we played outside and did some finishing up of the Fall yard clean-up. She loves helping with yard work.
After Natalya woke up, we went and played in the court behind our house as Miles was home on a surprise visit. of course, Payton was around too, as well as Eva. Natalya mostly watched the bigger kids, as I fed her bites of my apple.

Week 8

Day 40 – Friday, November 6, 2009

It's suppose to be a nice fall day outside today. We'll definitely get some outside play time in.
Injury time-out ... Alexa bumped the side of her nose on the kitchen table. Trying to get her to put some ice on it. She hates ice, unless she gets to eat it. On sally's suggestion, I am even trying peas. She just wants to eat those too. I did manage to ice/pea it down some, with me holding it so she could still watch TV with both eyes. It's a pretty minor bump, but I'm sure it will only get worse looking before it gets better.
Natalya sleeping in some today. We didn't even give her any drugs last night for her teeth. 10-bucks she has a big poopy diaper waiting for me when she does wake up.
No poopy diaper afterall. Maybe she'll wait until mommy gets home. =)
Took the girls to the library, then to Culver's. Alexa loves the Scoopie Cup Meal. She even shared some of her ice cream with her little sister.

Day 39 – Thursday, November 5, 2009

Oh god, it's only 8:15 and we've already been going for almost 2 hours.
Talya enjoyed her oatmeal again today. I even let her have some bits of the raisins that I like (plump and juicy from cooking with the oatmeal).
I had a moment, albeit it brief. Alexa was sitting on the couch, eating her toast with pb&j like a good little girl. Natalya was sitting by herself on her box with her blanket in her arms. Alexa looked at me and smiled as she ate her toast. Natalya looked at me as if to say, I'm happy daddy. It only lasted a few brief minutes, but it was great nonetheless.
School pictures for Alexa today. Gammy and Rara are going to pretty her all up and have lunch before the big day. Alexa will feel so special!
Is it me, or has the craftsmanship on Hungry Hippos gone down hill? Those stupid hippos get stuck all the time now. I don't remember it like that when I was a kid.
Went for a long walk around the neighborhood with Natalya. It's nice and sunny out and not much wind. A little too long of a walk, apparently, as Natalya fell asleep. I had to ride it wheely-style the last few blocks to keep her head from falling forward. =)
We went to a new park (Alexa had been there once with Grandpa Albers last spring I believe) after picking Alexa up from pre-school. Both girls had a lot of fun. So many places for Lexi to play hide and "try to get me".

Day 38 – Wednesday, November 4, 2009

Alexa went to Jane's today (her old daycare). Sally figured it would be good for her to play with all her friends (Lexi has only mentioned Jane's about 10 times in the last couple of weeks) and we thought it would give me a break. Lexi will have so much fun! It's only 7:30 and I already miss her. I'm sure I'll really miss the girls when I get a job.
Natalya slept until around 10. Must be nice not to have a big sister romping around and making noise. =)
We're off to the library.

Day 37 – Tuesday, November 3, 2009

Natalya sleeping in a bit. Yay!
Pancakes with Reeses Pieces, sprinkles and whipped cream for Alexa. We have to get rid of the Halloween candy somehow. At least the pancakes are whole wheat!
Natalya ate a whole things or mandarin oranges and a whole thing of diced peaches. Now she's feeding herself water. I'll have her changing her own diaper in no time!
I painted Alexa's nails today. They look fab.

Day 36 – Monday, November 2, 2009

Alexa up at 5:20 today. Stupid time change!
Note to self: Don't let Natalya play with a zip lock bag full of rice.
Bright and sunny out today. Alexa and I got some outside play time in while Natalya napped (with our jackets, hats and gloves on, of course). She even helped me tidy up the garage. Oh the joy.
Went and ran some quick errands and on the way home I told Alexa we'd being doing a nap when we got home. She didn't fight it. She just fell asleep in the car. Transfer went good! Finally, a nap for her. I am thinking this will be good for her leading into tomorrow too, with school and all.
Free time with Talya.

Week 7

Day 35 – Friday, October 30, 2009

Daddy was up from about 2 am until 4:30 am, so when I finally got back to sleep I was hoping to sleep in. Of course, Alexa comes into our room around 7:20 (sally had left for work already). She crawled up into bed, so I thought maybe she'd sleep for a little longer. After about 2 minutes of quiet, she explained that she was not sleepies and wanted to go downstairs. So down we went. =)
I decided to bring the girls into Sally's work for a bit. I dressed them up, Alexa in her Flamenco dress and Natalay in her "Alien" Halloween outfit. They looked so cute! I dropped them off and went down to Caribou to meet a few old co-workers for a quick coffee. I understand the girls were a hit, as Sally said, "everyone loved seeing them". She even took them to a meeting. Sometimes I think it takes a young mind to bring the right energy to a meeting. Of course, getting them out was not so easy. They loved seeing their mom and I'm sure Alexa loved all the attention.
Back home now. Talay fell asleep in the car on the way home. I managed to transfer to her crib without waking. Yay!
The rain has gone away and it's looking decent out. A little windy, but at least it's in the 50's. We may get out for a bit later this afternoon.
Ok, cancal that. It's cold and rainy again. Project time. Cookies with orange frosting and glitter glue on pine cones!

Day 34 – Thursday, October 29, 2009

Big day for Alexandra today. She has a Halloween presentation at school today. Sally will be coming down to see it, as will Gammy and Rara. Of course, Natalya and I would not miss it for the world!
Both girls up early ... again. Alexa up at 7:45. She must have gone into our room looking for us and slammed the door, because something awoke her sister. Oh well, it should work out well for me getting Talya down for a nap before the big event at Alexa's school.
Cold and rainy out today. We'll keep inside this morning. I think we need to do a project or something. Whatever we do, we're going to limit the TV time this morning.
Alexa playing some NickJr.com (she likes the art stuff and games). Natalya enjoying some play time in the toy room and reading the Animal Kisses book. She likes to turn the pages, although not always in order or even for that purpose. She likes it when I put the fuzzy bear up to her nose.
Alexa's Halloween parade and singing event was pretty neat. She was the cutest witch around! She did a great job of singing and being a little darling.

Day 33 – Wednesday, October 28, 2009

Today is special in many ways, but most of all, it's mommy's birthday!
In honor of this, both girls seemed to be up all night. Alexa ended up sleeping in our room halfway through the night after she had a "nightmare". Both girls were up to send mommy off to work.
Lot's of errands with the girls today. Made a run to Sam's for some essentials, as well as Halloween candy. We also got a big Halloween container of pumpkin and bat shaped mini bags of pretzels. I'm sure out house will get egged and our pumpkin will be smashed in the front yard for giving the non-candy stuff out. So be it.
We also had to get a birthday card and cake for Sally's birthday. Alexa was a big help. We ended up getting a cake with and eyeball, spiders and worms on it. Perfect for the season! the card Lexi helped pick out has a removable sticker for "#1 Mom". We also went by Papa Murphy's for pizza. Sally's favorite meal, of course (with sushi being second I actually think). I wanted a jack-o-lantern style pizza (pretty gimmicky) they had on special for the Halloween season, but they do not make it in their thin crust, so I just got a thin crust pizza with pepperoni and made my own! Alexa (and Sally) will love it!

Day 32 – Tuesday, October 27, 2009

Looks to be a beautiful fall day out ... finally. We'll spend some time outside before Alexa has pre-school.
Oatmeal for Natalya again. Plain eggs (like mommy apparently makes) and an apple for Alexa.
Went for a walk to the park. Alexa took her pink jeep. Nice and sunny out, but a little windy. They were happy to be out though.
Today I had one of those moments. You see, Talya went down for her nap at around 11:15. So I figured she'd sleep for a good 2:30 hours, which would be perfect for her and me to go pick up Alexa from school. Of course, she only slept for an hour ... so there went mid-day break. I figured I'd make the most of my time alone with my baby girl. We played, giggled, coooed and gaga'd for a good hour. I then thought I'd try and get her in for another nap before going to get Alexa, so I decided to give her a bath first. So after her bath, even more soft and cuddly than otherwise, I brought her up for an attempt at nap time. This is the moment ... as I sat there with her in my lap after feeding her some bottle, she just wasn't all that tired. She wasn't kicking and being fussy though either. She was just perfectly content to be in my lap. She'd sometimes grab one of her feet and her 5 little toes and put them in her mouth for a quick naw. Other than than, she was just so precious. After a while, I did get her into her crib for a quick nap, but the time alone with her in the chair is what I loved most.

Day 31 – Monday, October 26, 2009

Last day for Grandpa Singer in town. It seems like we've had guests here for the whole month. Back to "normal" I guess.
Alexa up early ... Talya too! Is it wrong that I wish Talya would sleep in longer? I managed to get a little job hunting and networking in this morning. So that is good.
Talya loved my oatmeal with a little brown sugar and cinnamon. Alexa ... not so much. She did enjoy her banana bread (seems we have a never-ending supply of that) and fruit.
Early nap for Natalya. In what has become a bit of a habit, Alexa came in her room again while I was trying to get her to nap in my lap. Alexa is pretty quiet and she just wants to give her sister kisses and help her sleep, but she does add some commotion and it seems to wake Talya up. Today, we managed to get by without too much hassle though.
Turning out to be a decent fall day outside. Got some playtime in the backyard with Alexa while Natalya napped. Then played in the toy room in the afternoon before we bring Grandpa to the airport. Alexa is excited about "going to the airplane". Although, she seems to think we get to fly too.
The girls were so good in the car, we are all sharing ice cream treats at home. Talya loves it! (see pic)

Week 6

Day 30 – Friday, October 23, 2009

Wow ... 30 days. It's hard to believe.
Today it's cold and rainy out, but we need to get out some. We'll shoot to go to the play area at McDonald's. I drove by it this morning after my workout and it looked big and new. I hope they have an area for Talya to play some.
Well, no little kid area for Talya. I did let her play in one little area at the bottom of the slides before any other kids came to play. Alexa was playing alone for about 45 minutes and I was hoping another kid or two would show up to play with her. I got my wish, and thensome, as about 25 kids showed up. It turns out they were from 4 different in-home daycares from around the area and they all decided to come to Mickey D's. Alexa had fun.
We'll be going to Nick or Treat at the MOA tonight, so we'll be trying to get Lexi down for a nap this afternoon so she has plenty of energy for that. Niuck or Treat has all sorts of games and events for the special occasion. Plus, Alexa gets to ride all her favorite rides, as usual. We're meeting Sally there after work.
Grandpa Singer walked up the stairs with Natalya again. She has fun playing upstairs with him. She mostly seems to like going into her big sisters. Must be the Nemo fish light.

Day 29 – Thursday, October 22, 2009

Both girls up early.
Went to Sam's to run errands. No treats were out, so Lexi was not happy. She was good though.
Our first parent-teacher conference today at school for Alexa. Interesting how they do this for a 3 year old. I guess I better get used to this stuff.
Did a leaf gathering project with the girls this afternoon. It was cold out, but we bundled up. We grabbed a bunch of pretty leaves on the ground from around our yard (Lexi only tackled her sister a couple of times) and made a "leaf picture".

Day 28 – Wednesday, October 21, 2009

Happy Birthday to me! And I get to spend it with my daughters. That's a pretty nice way to celebrate.
Spent a couple hours at Burger King this morning. I like that it is a fun place to play for Alexa, but it's so hard to get her out of there when Natalya needs to sleep but Alexa is having so much fun with the other kids.
Back home for Natalya nap and some lunch. Cold and rainy out today, so not sure what we'll do after nap. I could use nap myself. =)

Day 27 – Tuesday, October 20, 2009

Both girls up nice and early today. Alexa at 7:30 (and not in a good mood) and Natalya at 8:15. No rest for the weary (me).
We're going to make a run to the library this morning. They always seem to have fun there. Then off for groceries and home for lunch before bringing Lexi to pre-school.
The lack of new job postings over the last week or so is a bit disconcerting. I hope to get some networking in this afternoon while Talya sleeps.
Alexa ate a whole apple, un-peeled! I had even asked her if I could peel it and she said she wanted it with the peel on.
Took Talya and Grandpa Singer to get groceries. Groceries with just Talya is so simple!
Today was the first day where I picked Alexa up from pre-school and asked her how it was and she said she liked it. Usually I say "Did you have fun at school?", as she says "No". Even though I think she does have fun, she just says that because she knows I want her to say yes. Today she answered "Yes I did!" ... very enthusiastically.

Day 26 – Monday, October 19, 2009

Nice day out today. Should be close to 60 this afternoon. We'll be spending some time outside, probably at the Zoo and a park, as well as playing around the neighborhood.
Grandpa Singer is still in town this week. We'll be working on Alexa not calling him Grandpa Bob. haha. I think she still has that in her head from the previous weeks visitors.
Zoo was a good time! Alexa loves the new play park and tree house they have. Back home after for a nap for Natalya and lunch for the rest of us.
Play time in back yard with the girls dancing to the music of the pink jeep. It's so cute how Talya dances her little butt off to the tunes. Of course, Alexa is all over her. =)

Week 5

Day 25 – Friday, October 16, 2009

A "day off" as we are headed to Nebraska for the weekend, sans kids. The girls are off to Isabella's (Bob & Mary's) for a play date. Their weekend will be spent with Grandma and Grandpa Albers.

Day 24 – Thursday, October 15, 2009

Ok, I've had enough of it ... SNOW! Geez ... October 15 and this is already the third day we have had snow. Of course, the first things Alexa says when she comes downstairs is "I want to go play in the snow". We may go outside a little later after Natalya gets up. With Grandpa Harvey in town now (he's here for about 10 days), he can go build a snow fort with her or something while I stay warm inside with the little one. =)
Play in the toy room ... bath with both girls. Time to get Alexa ready for school.

Day 23 – Wednesday, October 14, 2009

Natalya's 9-month doctor appointment this morning. Sally and I are taking both of the girls. Alexa will be so happy that she gets to get stickers!
Who knew Burger King could be so much fun! The BK by the clinic where we bring the girls for doctor appointments has a HUGE play area for toddlers. When we first got there, there were just a couple other kids. Alexa quickly grew attached to one of the little boys and an older girl (she was 5). After about 30 minutes, a couple of small groups of daycare kids showed up and they all had so much fun. Alexa loved it! We stayed for about 90 minutes and Natalya was such a sweetheart. She was so good, even though I know she needed a nap towards the end.
Wow ... that a was a big, stinky, leaky one. Yeah, you know what I'm talking about. Afterwards, I put Taly down for a nap. I'm thinking she'll sleep good after all that child interaction and the subsequent clearing out of her system.
Painting project time for Alexa. She made a picture for Mommy! (see pic)
Sharing a Honeycrisp apple with both of my girls. 1/2 of it peeled for Alexa. The other half I let Talya take nibbles out of the parts with no peel. Talya loves being able to eat the stuff big people do!
I put Natalya in her new jeans (so cuuuute!) and a Nebraska t-shirt with some pick socks! Knowing Sally has serious issues with pink and red together, I still wanted some more girlie to it. Plus, the jeans have some pink in the flowers on them. Apparently Lexi has the same issues with pink and red as her mother, because, not 10 minutes later, I find that Lexi has taken her little sisters socks off!

Day 22 – Tuesday, October 13, 2009

Dentist appointment for me first thing this morning (everything went well!). So Gammy and Myra came over to watch the girls. We REALLY had to pull their arms to get them to help out. =)
Apparently they played games (Alexa won at Candy Land), did projects (Alexa made me a wonderful art piece!) and had a great time. They are both amazed at how Natalaya dances to music. I think they both were hoping her dancing for them was a "first", but I informed them she's an old pro and has been doing it for a couple of weeks now. haha.
They are taking Alexa out for lunch or something (spoiling her I am sure) then to pre-school. I can get some job hunting in while Natalaya naps. Yay! Pumpkin soup leftovers for lunch for me. Yumm!
Natalya up around 1:30. Feeding her some real strawberries, bananas and grapes. She's loving the strawberries! After lunch we'll play together some and maybe I'll read her a book or two. Then we go pick her sister up from pre-school. We'll lay low after that, as she has dance class tonight after mommy gets home.

Day 21 – Monday, October 12, 2009

Another week and this one starts with snow on the ground! We have about 2 inches of snow out there right now. I'm guessing Alexa will want to go play in it when she sees it. Chances are it won't stick around long, as the ground is not very cold yet.
Back to just the three of us. Just me and the girls for a few days here, although I do suspect Gammy will be here tomorrow for a bit. My dad arrives late Wednesday, not that he'll be much help with the girls. =) It will be nice to have some company again though, and Alexa will have fun running him in circles.
Lulu out in snow now ... Talya up ... such a joy! Peyton is off of school today, so they are playing outside. I had to get Talya all dressed up too, because she so wanted to go outside. Good snowball making snow ... but that does not mean Alexa should throw snow at her little sister! I told her she can only throw snow at kids that can throw it back.
Back inside now after about an hour outside for Alexa. We made hot cocoa. Talya will probably take an earlier nap today because she woke up a little early.
Natalya down for a nap. Time to go play outside!
Alexa and i played alone outside for a little over an hour. Check out our snowgirl! We also did a lot of sledding, both me pulling her and her pulling me. Snow is still falling. Probably up to around 3 inches total now since last night.
Back inside to warm up and eat some lunch. Chicken nuggets, 1/2 of a peeled apple and some milk for Alexa. Homemade mother-in-law chili for me. Yummmm!
Alexa down for a nap, Natalya up from her nap. Snow is starting to melt some and our snowgirl is tipping to her side.

Week 4

Day 20 – Friday, October 9, 2009

Busy day today. After the girls are up and fed, we're off to MoA for some fun. I'll be leaving there for an interview in St. Paul. I'll sure miss my girls! They'll be in good hands though.
I didn't get to go to MoA afterall. =( I decided to prep for my interview a little more. The girls still went though! Grandma Sheryl and Grandpa Bob took them. I'm sure they are having so much fun now. Alexa is running around from ride to ride and getting whatever she wants. Talya is in awe of all the things to see ... big rides, lot's of people, oversized Dora's and Sponge Bob's.
I get back from my interview and the girls are sleeping peacefully, although Alexa was on the white rocker. I'm told they had a great time! (see pics)
Another week gone by of Daddy Daycare, albeit this week was quite different with the folks in town. I do feel, though, that the girls are getting closer to me. They no longer like Mommy 10 times as much. Perhaps only 3 or 4 times as much now. =)

Day 19 – Thursday, October 8, 2009

Visting guests, get to work! I am going to a meeting about Social Media this morning, so Sheryl and Bob are in charge. Give 'em heck girls!
Both girls up just before 9 to send me off. Alexa with a slightly wet bed. I guess I should have bought the night time version of the pull-ups like we had before. Stupid Sam's for not having them!
It looks like I may be out of another job. I come back from my meeting to find Natalay sound asleep on Grandpa Bob and Alexa happy with her new toy (Etch-A-Sketch). She then made pancakes for "lunch" with Grandma Sheryl.
Off to school for Alexa soon. It's actually turing out to be a decent day for weather. The sun is creeping out some and winds are low. Temps in low 50's. Maybe they will get some outdoor play time.
Might see if Bob is up for a hike at Ritter ... if we can get Natalya off his chest.

Day 18 – Wednesday, October 7, 2009

Early rise for me ... it's 4:30 am. This time I can't blame it on my girls. Trying to get some job searching stuff in here before a quick run to the gym.
Today we're going to the Children's Museum in Saint Paul, using the pass I got at the library. I was worried that Alexa's knee would not allow her to play there much, but she was doing much better last night after dance. I didn't even notice her favoring her other leg or walking with a limp at all. Of course, I'll be keeping a close eye on it. I'm still hoping it was a minor knee bump of some sort that has worked itself out.
Well, I fell asleep on the couch watching National Parks on PBS, so the gym thing did not happen today.
Children's Museum was great! Alexa loves that place ... except for the Ant Hill. She got scared in that, just like she did last year. Haha. She particularly loved the Bus that she could "drive, the stage where she could dance to the music on video and the restaurant where she could act like she was making food and serving it to me. Natalya had a great time in the little pond area for people her size. She could have stayed in there all day! Grandma Sheryl and Grandpa Bob had fun too!
Afterward, Natalya fell asleep in the car so we all went to Culver's drive thru. That way Alexa could get the ice cream and french fries Grandma had promised her. Of course, just as we were ab out to get our food, Natalya woke up. So we went to the park for a bit to play and eat our lunch.
Best day out for weather today (60 and sunny ... feels like 20 degrees to my mom), so we need to take advantage of it! We'll get play time outside in with ther girls as much as possible.

Day 17 – Tuesday, October 6, 2009

Somebody made me coffee! My mom and Bob are in town now. The girls have already warmed up to them ... pretty much.
Girls still sleeping around 9. I am hoping they will both sleep in a bit, as I think they need a little extra after a later night with Grandma and Grandpa in town.
Cold and rainy out today, so we'll probably lay low until we bring Alexa to pre-school. The weather is suppose to get better the rest of the week, so hopefully we'll get some outdoor playtime in then.
Alexa up around 9:15. She got out of bed on her own today, without cries about her leg. She was walking with a little limp still though, but she is a lot better than yesterday. I'll ice her knee some this morning. Good thing with the rain is that they'll stay inside at pre-school, so physical activity will be limited.
Alexa, of course, requested "nana bread" for breakfast. And, of course, the one with chocolate chips. Ode to a healthy breakfast! ... loaded with potassium! She's having her breakfast on the couch while grandma Sheryl gets cozy with her next to the fire (see image).
Bath for Alexa so she is all pretty for school and dance class later today. She so wanted her little sister to take a bath with her, but Talya just had a bath last night. We may bathe her later when Lexi is at school.
Good nap for Talya. 2 1/2 hours ... just long enough for Grandma to get ready for the day. =)

Day 16 – Monday, October 5, 2009

Today should be interesting. Alexa hurt her knee somehow over the weekend. Since Sunday overnight, she has been complaining of her knee hurting. We took her to urgent care, but they were not able to see anything on an x-ray. She spent all of Sunday whining about her leg and hobbling around (especially if you would ask her about her leg). It will be so joyful to deal with that all day today, not. I just hope she is not seriously injured. We'll be keeping a close eye and if it stays bad, we may need to get an MRI.
Thankfully, Grandma Sheryl and Grandpa Bob arrive from California later today. They will be here all week! It will be nice to have them around to play with the girls and for us all to spend some time with them. I actually have a potential work related meeting to attend later this week, so that will be nice to have them to watch the girls (not that Diann or Myra could not have stepped in). Now if I could only get some interviews lined up!
We'll probably lay low today with Alexa's knee. I'll be making two stews in a bit here for the big game tonight (Vikes vs. Pack) with our guests in town: Beef Stew & Vegetable Stew. The best part about the stews is that Natalya loves stewed veggies!
Okay. Making two batches of stew while keeping a 9 month old happy and nursing an injured toddler is not an easy task. These are the times when I ask myself, "What would June do?" of course, even while injured, Alexa was still a little helper (see image).
Good nap for Natalya. She then got a treat as gammy stopped by with some banana bread. She loved it! As did Alexa. Of course, we also had to give Talya some of the veggies from the stews that are brewing. Smells wonderful in here!
Oh how Natalya wants to play outside (see picture) ... but rain has arrived again (and cold -- like 50 degrees).
Cali grandparents arrive in an hour or so. Alexa has not been whining about her knee at all, but she does still favor her other leg and she hesitates to straigten out her bad leg (even if she does not know i am watching her). I sure hope it's not serious. =(

Week 3

Day 15 – Friday, October 2, 2009

More rain and cold weather. This "job" sure is easier when it's nice out.
Girls sleeping in a little, as did Daddy. Although, I was up for a couple of hours overnight thinking about stuff. Nice to have Bear Gryls on DVR to help kill off a couple hours.
Of course, with mommy playing volleyball last night (no, she did not get hurt), the girls were up late because they wanted to wait for mommy to get home to help tuck them in. To quote mom on her v-ball skills, "After my first serve hit the floor, I was really good."
Today we'll look to get out of the house some ... not sure what to do though. Might hit the zoo and do the indoor stuff. Perhaps go to MOA for a bit. We'll also do some projects at the house.
One thing we'll work on is cleaning up toys. Per Sally on Alexa's blog page, "When I come home it's like a hurricane of toys hit every room of the house." I think I might make one of those charts where Alexa has to earn a certain amount of stars each week to earn a prize. Something I never had to do as a kid ... perhaps that is what's wrong with me!
Natalya sleeping still ... almost 10am. I go up to check on her and come back down and Alexa is looking all happy on the couch. I then see a little pile of Candy Corn Autmn Mix on her blankie and the Target bag of candy that I had bought for a Halloween project sitting on the floor. As I recall where I had "hid" the bag from her last night, I remember that I put it on top of the fridge. Her little red chair is sitting next to the fridge, so apparently, she got on her chair to climb onto the counter-top to grab the bag of goodies. Needless to say, she was not very happy when I took the candy away, including her little pile of candies from her blankie.
Talya up at 10:15. Slept all through the night without a peep! She's looking so bright eyed and bushy tailed!
Took the girls to the library for some play time and to check out some books. We got two regular books and two that came with a CD. I don't think Alexa has ever had or "read' a book with a CD so we'll see what she thinks. Aside from school libraries, I don't think I have ever had a library card. Oh how being unemployed can make one more cultured. We also picked up a free family pass to the Children's Museum. That will be fun!
Took the girls out to lunch for Mexican at Teresa's. Natalya so wanted to eat some of my steak salad. I did give her some bits of Alexa's chicken and some tomatoes from my salad. They were both good girls!
Relax time at home then nap time for Natalya and possibly Alexa. Talya down at 1:30. I sure hope she takes a good, long nap. I am thinking she may just do one nap today.
For the record, I think it should be noted how much of a great reward it is having Diann, my mother-in-law, around. It's been a great help having her (with Myra sometimes too!) help with the girls, get Alexa from school and other stuff. She's a wonderful grandma (I mean Gammy) to the girls and a great mother-in-law to me.
Alexa eating her second apple in two days (peeled, of course). She asked for it today. I feel like the winner of a bobbing for apples contest!
The weekend is almost here. Daddy is looking forward to having Sally here too!

Day 14 – Thursday, October 1, 2009

October rain brings ... not sure. I guess we'll find out.
Rainy day out. Perhaps the calm of the rain is allowing the girls to sleep in a bit. I think we'll lay low today before Alexa has pre-school.
Alexa up at 8:30, Talya at 8:45. Breakfast and some Nickjr.com to start the day.
Well ... today we find out if Talya is allergic to eggs. Stupid Daddy gave her eggs, then thought "I wonder if i can give an 8 1/2 month old eggs". Turns out, kids under 1 year can be very allegic to egg yolks. I'll be keeping a close eye on her (as if I don't already). 1 hour after and I am seeing no signs of an allergic reaction.
3 hours later .. still looking good!
Off to school for Alexa. This time, mommy and daddy remembered to have her do her homework. We felt pretty bad about not having her form filled out for Tuesday of some of her answers to basic questions (who is in her family, her pets, etc...). I guess we get an "F" for that first "Do your kids homework" assignment.
Talya only slept for about an hour and a half, so her and I went out to get some project supplies. It's nice being able to go to Target and not having your co-shopper grabbing at things in the aisles and wanting this, this and that. Give it a few months and I'm sure she'll be right there with her sister causing havoc in the stores. =)

Day 13 – Wednesday, September 30, 2009

For all those tuning in from the workplace, here's to ya! At the present, I wouldn't trade places with you in a heartbeat. Of course, all good things must eventually come to an end. That being said, I'll keep enjoying this while I can.
Okay ... on the agenda for this morning after the girls are up and fed, Storytime for 2's and 3's and the library! Maybe they'll let me guest read for one of these if I show up to enough of them. I always loved reading in front of kids, when I was just one of the kids in the class that is. Always fun to over-emphasize stuff. I suppose I do that sometimes even now when I read to girls.
Early day today ... both girls up just after 8. Alexa wants to watch Barney. Not sure where that came from ... oh how I have missed Barney. =)
I've got the fireplace fire going today. A nice day to cozy up with my girls! It's actually supposed to be pretty nice today, so I think we'll spend some time outside (can you say "PARK!") after the library and a nap for Talya.
Toast, pb & j for Alexa. Yogurt, formula and part of a banana (thanks so much for getting that out Lexi Lu!) for Natalya.
Wet bed! Another load of wash coming right up.
Back from the library. That was fun! Alex had a great time. Not so much during the reading, although she did talk along with the others kids (a lot of stories about owls today), but she mostly enjoyed playing in the library. They had lots of books, a couple of kids computers, some toys and a kids shopping basket for book. She loved pushing that around while her sister chased her crawling. After running to the store for some project supplies, Talya fell asleep in the car. Nap time for her while Alexa and I do some lunch.
Getting a bit of job searching in. Actually found a few good postings ... so now i have the itch to submit my resume. Please keep sleeping Talya! =)
Alexa has been such a good girl today. She earned herself and ice cream bar! Might have to skip her nap today, as it is getting pretty nice out. I think we need to hit the park after Natalya wakes up. We made it! (see images)

Day 12 – Tuesday, September 29, 2009

Alexa up at 7 today ... so much for Daddy getting a little "free" time in. =)
Well, what do you know, chocolate milk is in order again! We'll go for a more nutritious meal in a bit. I think we'll go for some eggs, toast and fruit. Alexa has school later today, so we'll be taking it easy this morning. She'll need a bath before school too, if nothing else, to get the chocolate out of her hair from last nights ice cream treat.
Clear and calm out today (cold right now, 42 degrees). So long as it stays calm out, it should be a nice early fall day to play outside later!
Playing "The ABC Game" with Alexa before her sister wakes. Curious George rambing in the background. ABC game did not last too long ... maybe got past the Big A. Played some "Ants in the Square Pants" before we went to paint on her easle in the toy room.
She decided she wanted green pancakes with sprinkles and a side of jello. So glad I got whole grain pancake mix! I'm also making an omelette for us to share. =)
Wow ... only 9:30 and we have done so much already! Talya still sleeping. Alexa wants to watch the rest of her movie from yesterday (Ice Age).
Natalya slept until 10. Bath time for Lexi while I feed Talya some bananas and formula, although, based on her cries, she'd much rather play in the tub with her sister. We'll save her bath for later today though, this time. ... or not. She talked me into letting her take a bath with her sister. Now I have two clean little girls!
Off to run spme errands, then to drop Alexa off at school.
The girls were good at Target. Alexa started getting a little tired though. dropped Alexa off at 12:30 and Natalya was asleep in the back seat at 12:30 and 30 seconds. I did manage to transfer her to her crib without waking (I just love it when she rests her sleepy head on my shoulder) ... hopefully she naps for a good 2:30 hours or so.
Ok ... well, she got 1:15 in. Going for a walk around the block now ... her cries are screaming "take me outside!". Of course, she just had to wear her Huskers gear.
Just waiting for big sis to get home from school now. Big night tonight, as it's "Family Night" at school.

Day 11 – Monday, September 28, 2009

Alexa up at 8 … dragging her 3 blankets, her pillow and, this time, her piggy bank too! Chocolate milk and a little bit of TV are in order. Today we’ll be doing some projects! … it’s cool and windy out.
Lexi wants noodles for breakfast … we had spiral noodles and parm for dinner last night and now she wants for breakfast! So, I am letting her help me make them. Of course, making them is funner than eating them for her. We’ll try some oranges.
Natalya up at 9. She loves noodles! (we gave some ot her for dinner last night too). There must be some cultures around the world that have noodles for breakfast, right?
10am and the TV is off! Play time with the girls in the toy room, and all around the toy room. Webcam with Grandma Sheryl and Grandpa Bob for a bit. We'll see them here in MN in a week!
Natalya down for a nap at 11. Alexa doing some lunch and TV time. We may try and get outside a bit before Natalya wakes up, since it's cool out ... got about 30 minutes of backyard playtime in with Lexi. It was windy and cool out, but we played soccer, freeze tag, "monster", swing, baseball and even some golf! We cam back in to cries from Talya waking up around 1:30.
Toy room time with the girls. Alexa keep "calling me" on the phone. She tells me what to ask her. It's so cute.
2 o'clock ... nap time for Alexa. She actually was ok with taking a nap today ... so long as she could do it in mommy and daddy's room again. I'm hoping a nap today helps with school and dance class tomorrow.
Mandarin Oranges for Natalya. SHe's really good about grabbing 1/2 pieces with her fingers and putting them in her mouth.
I put a reluctant Natalya down for a second nap around 3:30 ... that only lasted about 45 minutes. Her and Alexa woke at the same time. We finished our afternoon off by playing in the living room and the toy room as we awaited for Mommy's return. Tomorrow, aside from school for Alexa, the goal will be to get out a bit more. I feel like we've been holed up in the house all day.

Week 2

Day 10 – Friday, September 25, 2009

Week 2 coming to an end …
Alexa up already at 7:20. Wanting “a lot of chocolate milk”.
Such a struggle to feed Natalya homemade food … time for Kix and formula. I’ll give those carrots another shot later.
Rainy day out. We’re going to have to find something to do! Projects and stuff on deck … but maybe we’ll head to the indoor pool.
The pool was a great! Although the 35 minute drive each way is tough when doing things around the schedule of a 8 month old. The pool had a Caterpillar tube slide … Alexa loved it! Natalya was jealous I think. Gammy and Rara had fun too!
Got home and lunch time before nap time for Alexa. Natalya is a bit off with her 30 minutes naps in the car to and from the pool. The day at the pool certainly made this Friday an easy one. It's nice to have a big event for them to take part in like that.

Day 9 – Thursday, September 24, 2009

Alexa and I are making eggs together while Natalya “sleeps in”.
We’ll be doing morning baths for both girls before a day filled with events! First we’re off to the Library for Family Storytime. Then we’ll go to the store to get some groceries (our attempt to go yesterday was foiled by a sleeping baby in the car). Then Alexa has pre-school this afternoon.
Alexa quote: “Why are you not getting on? I’m trying to eat you!”
… talking to her eggs as she tried to get a bite onto her fork.
Bath time for Alexa, then she played on the “puter” for a while (Nickjr.com). She loves the paint games.
Natalya slept until 9:30! Feeding time for her, then we’re off to the library.
Library was fun. They read three book and had songs and dance between the books. At the end, they brought out toys for the kids to play with. Alexa was pretty engaged, but she was interested in playing with her sister a lot too.
After the library we made a run to target and had some lunch in the car on the way to pre-school. Alexa was much better about getting dropped off today. I still get a little sad when dropping her off … she’s getting to be such a big girl!
Talya fell asleep in the car on the way home. I managed to transfer her to her crib without waking her and thought I was in for a couple hours of job hunting. Of course, she then proceeded to have her biggest, stinkiest poopy diaper yet. After that, she was not up for sleeping. =)

Day 8 – Wednesday, September 23, 2009

Rainy days …. Well, it’s a little wet out this morning. I wanted to do some outdoor play time with the girls, but that may have to wait until this afternoon.
Rain went away. Nice stroll to the park. Alexa decided she wanted to walk over taking her Jeep, which was not such a good choice coming back up the hill. =) Off to the grocery store for MORE MILK! Or not … Talya fell asleep on the way there, so we detoured to Taco Bell to grab lunch, then back home to put Talya down.
Working on a “project” with Alexa. She’s coloring the letters “M - o – m” … a special prize for Mommy.
Talya giving me the “Ma ma ma ma ma” bit while feeding. =)
Alexa down for a nap .. in mommy and daddy’s bed, of course. Put Talya down for another nap too, but this time Daddy slept with her for a bit while she rested on my lap.
Looking nice outside now … going to get some play time outdoors when the girls wake up!
Spent the last bit of the afternoon making cookies, then sharing cookies and popcorn with Alexa and Natalya. Played in the back yard on the swing set until mommy, still the top dog, came home to the joyous shrieks of the girls.

Day 7 – Tuesday, September 22, 2009

Breakfast time with this girls, then Gammy is subbing for a couple hours while I go to meet with Parker to network over coffee.
Alexa has day two of pre-school this afternoon, so we (me, gammy and ra-ra) are prepping Alexa … washing her hair, getting nice new clothes on.
After pre-school, I brought the girls home and played a bit. Knowing we had to go to dance class at 5:45 and mommy would be coming home soon, Alexa started watching Meet the Robinson’s as I put a yawning Natalya down for a nap around 4.
I come down from putting Talya down and I find Alexa sleeping with her shirt off in the middle of the living room. It looks like the day pooped them both out a bit. =)

Day 6 – Monday, September 21, 2009

Ahh … another week is upon us. What adventures will this week bring us?
Good start thus far, as the girls are sleeping in a bit. Alexa is up at 8, Natalya still snoozing. Some banana bread for Alexa, as she wakes to Curious George.
Natalya up at 8:30 … peed all over the changing table! Nice start. Haha. Eating a banana, some cheerios and some squash for breakfast.

Oops … left Natalya a little too close to the computer when I walked away for a moment. The result, her first attempt at typing: qqaQQ 33 22 a2A`1 1q221 `1s33`w21` ````````w2q
Translation: “Daddy, get your butt back over here to entertain me!” =)
We’ll be heading to run some errands and a stop at Kelly Park for play time once we’re all up and about.
Alexa was such a good girl at Sam’s. She was very nice to her sister, both sharing her water bottle and helping feed her a formula bottle too. Now at home … looks like rain.
Talya sleeping .. I had to carry her from the car to her crib while still sleeping. I love having her head resting gently on my shoulder. Lunch time for Lulu and me. We’ll share some Mac & Cheese and then maybe play outside some before the rain comes. No rain yet … Talya down for another nap after playing in the back yard. Alexa and I are doing water balloons now. Our day of care is almost over. Spending the last bit of time feeding Natalya some cantaloupe while Alexa snacks on cheese and crackers.
Off to the gym when mommy comes home, then grillin’ up some BBQ chicken.

Week 1

Day 5 – Friday, September 18, 2009

After dropping mommy off at work (we’re going to a wedding tonight) me and the girls are picking Myra up for a trip to the zoo. Always a fun trip!
Great day at the zoo! The girls had a blast. Natalya was such a good girl in her stroller. She loved seeing all the things to look at. Alexa was very good too. So good that she earned an ice cream cone! … Myra was good too. We were going to all go to lunch after, but the girls both started falling asleep in the car so we decided to just drop Myra off and then head home. Of course, when we got home, neither of them were tired!
We played for a while inside the house and all ate some lunch. I finally got Natalya down for her first nap around 1:30. She was fighting it. Alexa was not into taking a nap either, but I let her sleep in mommy and daddy’s bed and she went for it. Both are asleep now. I believe this is the first time this week I have had them both napping at the same time!
Some alone time for Daddy. I get to work on resume posting and the job search a bit now. I also get to practice my ½ Windsor Knot tie so I can look good in my tie for the wedding tonight!
The week has been eventful, draining, exciting, tiring, fulfilling and more! It is nice to have some time with my girls. Perhaps one day we’ll look back on this time as one of bonding together.

Day 4 – Thursday, September 17, 2009

Today was dominated by Alexa’s first “day of school”. We signed her up for a two day a week pre-school and it started this afternoon, from 12:45 to 3:30. Even though she’s still a little out of it from being sick (no fever anymore though) she was excited to go. It was a sad time for me as I dropped my little girl off. She came back to give me a hug and kiss before she went into sing songs with her new friends to be.
It did allow me some time alone with Natalya, which is always nice. She’s crawling all over the place! Lot’s of new sounds coming out of her mouth too. I think Daddy may just be her first words! … or at least Da Da or something that sort of sounds like it.
After pre-school, Gammy brought Alexa home with a DQ cone in hand. She loved daycare! She enjoyed sharing her DQ with her sister too. We spent some time outside on the blanket and Alexa used her jumper house... for all of 2 times! =)

Day 3 – Wednesday, September 16, 2009

Daddy got a workout in (gym)! Had to get up at 6 am to do it, but he did.
Both girls up early! Alexa’s throat is hurting … she has strep. =/ Her fever is better though.
Went for a bike ride to the park, while Talya strolled in her stroller. It’s was a cool morning, so we all had light jackets on. Lot’s of geese at the park. Both the girls loved looking at them. Alexa called them “gooses”, so I tried to teach her that Goose is 1 and Geese is a lot!
Talya down for a nap at 10:45. Alexa doing good eating some mac & cheese. Just trying to get some nutrients and liquids into her. She’s not into the water right now. Seconds for mac & cheese! Now if she’d just drink some water.
Talya up at 1:15 Lunch time … homemade peach and rice mix. This may take all afternoon … she prefers the popcorn Lexi and I made.
Alexa not having the nap thing. She is feeling better though, except for the throat.
Backyard time with the girls. Talya and I shared two Icee Pops. Alexa had three for herself! That should be good on her throat.
3pm … down the home stretch here. Such a beautiful day out. Glad we were able to get out some today. Maybe zoo tomorrow! Another nap for Natalya at 3:45.
Put some rub on chicken … going to B-B-Q tonight. June would never have done that.

Day 2 – Tuesday, September 15, 2009

Natalya up at 6:45am
Alexa had a fever last night, as high as 103.5 at one point. She’s still sleeping with a lower fever. I’ll be monitoring her all day, armed with Tylenol and Motrin (for toddlers, of course). I hate it when they are sick. Makes a daddy feel so helpless. If she had been at a daycare center, she’d have to stay home. Of course, when daycare is at home, you can’t really make her stay home. =)
Bananas and some Kix for Talya’s breakfast. Playing in the living room with toys and books while we wait for Alexa to wake.
Alexa up at 8. 101.3 temp. Tryin to get her to drink some oj. Relax time on couch for her.
Alexa feelin a little better … she’s pushing me to let her play “puter” … nickjr.com, here we come.
Talya down for nap at 9 .. I didn’t think she was ready yet, but the yawning is a dead giveaway. I’ll be keeping a close eye on her to make sure she is not getting sick like Alexa.
Natalya up at 10:30 … Lexi seems much better. She came upstairs to entertain her sister. She was smothering her while I changed her diaper … lots of huggies and kissies
Tinkerbell for Lexi. Crawl and find things to grab time for Talya. She loves grabbing onto thing to pull herself up!
Stew leftovers for Talya … she loves daddy’s stew! Alexa takes a shot at some mac & cheese, turkey and strawberries. Eats little though.
Talya down for a nap at 1:15 … Alexa’s turn for a nap now. She needs her sleep so she can dance the night away at her first dance class.
Alexa’s temp back up to 102 =( … another shot of Tylenol and some cold water and cool washcloths on her body. A nap should do her some good too. I hate this part. Nap at 1:30
Talya up at 2:45. 1 on 1 time with daddy. We share a banana.
Alexa up at 3:45. Fever seems down. … still at 100.5. No more medicine for at least a couple hours. Dancing is not looking so good at this point. =/ Relaxing with the girls in the living room. Watching some scholastic shows with some well know actors as the voices (Meryls Streep is on now). Maybe I could do that.
Afternoon snack/lunch/dinner for Alexa … some chicken nuggets, cheese, crackers and carrots. We’ll see how much she actually eats.
Mommy home at 5. It looks like we’ll give dance classes a shot. All in all, it was a good day with the girls. With Lexi being sick, we spent the entire day in the house. Is it Friday yet? =)

Day 1 – Monday, September 14, 2009

Alexa up at 7am Ate ½ of a banana, some strawberries and some turkey slices. Drank water Watched some cartoons Natalya up at 8am Apples, Stawberries, Bananas mix with rice cereal mix and a bottle of milk formula.
Alexa “worked on spelling her name while Natalya played in the jumper/bouncer. Alexa’s attention span was limited, but we did manage to get an “a” and an “l” on to the chalkboard. We’ll work more on this later.
9:30 am -- Off to the grocery store … Oh what a joy to shop with two little one’s. =) I decided to get some stuff to make a pot roast today. Gotta love havin’ a home cooked hot meal ready when ya get home from work, eh honey?!? You got nothin’ on me June! (…Cleaver that its) I managed to convince Alexa that pudding at home was better than that Snickers bar staring her in the face at the checkout isle. As I told the cashier, it would be nice if they had a “parent friendly” aisle without all the sugary treats.
Natalya down for a nap at 11 … Alexa watching an educational show about classical nursery rhymes done in a new way that helps teach kids lessons .. also eating her pudding and having chocolate milk.
Mid-day break … Alexa being a good and quiet girl while her sis naps. She is having some nachos (just chips and cheese) , grapes and water for lunch. I am doing a little recon on the job search. Contacting a couple of leads and updating my profile on Best Buy website. Plans are to take on a deeper search when the wife gets home from work.
After Talya’s nap … we’ll do lunch for her then off to the park for some play time!
Toy room playtime with Alexa. Doing some more ABCs work (limited) and playing with play-doh.
… Talya slept until 1:30 … longer than I had planned on! Lunch for Natalya (sweet potatoes), so many smiles after her long nap! Bright orange sweet potatoes all over her face with her tongue licking the yumminess from her lips.
Off to the park and hopefully a nap for Alexa to follow.
Okay … so no nap afterall. Alexa wasn’t having it, claiming “I’m not tired”. Movie time it is – “Bolt”. Afternoon snack of carrots and blue cheese dressing for dipping.
3:45 … another nap for Natalya. I wasn’t sure if she was ready for it, but I decided to feed her a bottle in her room. After feeding in my lap, she just stared up at me in a daze. So sleepy! I could have sat there with her forever if not for Alexa. I love those quiet moments with the baby girl. I layed her down in her crib, and after an initial whine or two, she fell off to sleep.
4:15 … I find Alexa asleep on the rocking chair. She may have fought me off for her nap, but I knew she needed one! =) Of course, Natalya wakes up just then too. Was a short one for her.
Reading time with Natalya. She enjoyed the touch and feel Animal Kisses book the most.
Mommy home a little early and both girls have all of their limbs intact! Natalya sure enjoyed her first try of Daddy’s stew too.
I enjoyed my first day of Daddy Daycare. Tiring, yet very rewarding.
